I just saw a news blurb about an earthquake this morning. I thought I felt a little something, but it didn't seem to last very long. I am a native Californian, so to me it's like, "Oh, an earthquake." I suppose that people from places like Kansas say things like, "Oh, a tornado. Guess I'll head to the shelter." What sorts of weather/etc. phenomena are you familiar with where you live?

Oh wow! Glad it wasn't a big one. We have to worry about hurricanes and tornadoes down our way!

I never get cavalier about an actual tornado. A tornado watch is yawn worthy, but once a warning is set, and the sirens start going off, I’m right back to terrified. That’s why I don’t like the spring and summer.

It just rains a lot here. So far no floods.

I understand the familiarity of earthquakes. I lived in San Diego for several years. My first one caused me to wonder what was happening. Here, we don't have too much phenomenon other than blizzards and we don't get many of those lately.
