Bargain shopping

Our Dollar Tree/Family Dollar store is one of the thousand stores the company is closing. I did not go overboard shopping when the sales started. When it was 50% off and the store was still stocked the lines snaked around the building. The parking lot was full. Today everything was marked down to 90% off. Mostly there is holiday stuff and kitchen stuff a little this and a little that. I bought a lot of stuff today. I only spent $4.81. Again, I did not go overboard but only bought what I felt I needed. I am sad the store is closing. We have very few options in our town.

Ours is not closing. We even have a Family Dollar, I have heard it will close, but that will be a good thing. It's downright scary in that store, and it's really dirty. It's not in a good safe place, I never go there. You got bargains, but then as you said, the store will be missed, especially if you don't have many other options.

This is a brand new, less than two years old store. It is a combo Family Dollar/Dollar Tree and it was much neater and cleaner than Dollar General is.

@GardenGerty Our Dollar General Stores are not bad for cleanliness, but I know some are bad. Our Dollar Tree store closest to me blows through employees like crazy. I think they stay long enough to get one paycheck and then they leave! But the Family Dollar store we have here, it's been here a long time but it is just truly disgusting.

That really is a big bummer since your options are so limited.

The employees were so nice, and it was voted one of the best businesses of the year last year.

I am sad to learn it's closing, too. I am sure you'll find a nice discount store to replace it.

There is a Dollar General. It is not as well run or as neatly kept.

Aw, I am sorry they are closing Heather, dang that is a shame. I know I have lived in the small towns in Kansas as you know. Those stores are handy. You did good though.

Central Kansas is pretty sparsely populated. Nice, if you love nature, but you have to plan your shopping trips when you need stuff.

I cannot even keep it straight which corporation owns which store. We actually had this combination Dollar Tree/Family Dollar less than a mile from Dollar General.

Glad you could get so much stuff for so little, I have not gone to any Dollar stores in a long time but here in Florida they are also closing a lot. I remember going to one a couple of years ago in a mall and except for one other person we were only two shoppers so I am not surprised the stores ae closing,

They actually had plenty of business, but it was a corporate decision.

It's a shame sometimes when shops close. It's easy to get carried away and buy stuff you don't really need.

That is so sad that stores like that are being closed cause of the way things are right now we have a dollar store in our little neck of the woods here & a lot of our area keeps it going. It wasn't long ago when we had to go all the way into town to get to a $ store till we got 1 in our neck of the news it's been great so far.
