Day 98 – Sacrifice
Leviticus 7:1 ‘Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering (it is most holy): 2 In the place where they kill the burnt offering, they will kill the trespass offering. He will sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 3 He will offer from it its fat. The fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails, 4 the two kidneys and the fat on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he will remove; 5 and the priest will burn them on the altar as an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH. It is a trespass offering. 6 Every male among the priests may eat it. It will be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy.
7 ‘The trespass offering is like the sin offering; there is one law for them both: the priest who makes atonement with it will have it. 8 The priest who offers anyone’s burnt offering, that priest will have for himself the skin of the burnt offering which he offered.
9 ‘Also every grain offering baked in the oven and prepared in the covered pan, or in a pan, will be the priest’s who offers it. 10 Every grain offering, whether mixed with oil, or dry, will belong to the sons of Aaron, to one as much as the other.
11 ‘This is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings which he will offer to JEHOVAH: 12 If he offers it for a thanksgiving, then he will offer, with the sacrifice of thanksgiving, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, or cakes of blended flour mixed with oil. 13 Besides the cakes, as his offering he will offer leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace offering. 14 From it he will offer one cake from each offering as a heave offering to JEHOVAH. It will belong to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offering. 15 He will eat the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offering for thanksgiving the same day it is offered. He will not leave any of it until morning.
16 ‘But if the sacrifice of his offering is a vow or a voluntary offering, it will be eaten the same day he offers his sacrifice; but on the next day the remainder of it also may be eaten; 17 the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day must be burned with fire. 18 If any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offering is eaten at all on the third day, it will not be accepted, nor will it be imputed to him; it will be an abomination to him who offers it, and the person who eats it will bear guilt.
19 ‘The flesh that touches any unclean thing will not be eaten. It will be burned with fire. As for clean flesh, all who are clean may eat it. 20 The person who eats the flesh of the sacrifice of the peace offering belonging to JEHOVAH, while he is unclean, will be cut off from his people. 21 Moreover, the person who touches any unclean thing, such as human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any abominable unclean thing, and who eats the flesh of the sacrifice of the peace offering belonging to JEHOVAH, will be cut off from his people.’”
22 Then JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘You will not eat any fat, of ox, sheep, or goat. 24 The fat of an animal that dies naturally, and the fat of what is torn by wild beasts, may be used in any other way; but you will by no means eat it. 25 For whoever eats the fat of the animal which men offer an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH, will be cut off from his people. 26 Moreover, you will not eat blood in your dwellings, whether of bird or beast. 27 Whoever eats blood, that person will be cut off from his people.’”
28 Then JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 29 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘He who offers the sacrifice of his peace offering to the LORD will bring his offering to JEHOVAH from the sacrifice of his peace offering. 30 His hands will bring the offerings made by fire to JEHOVAH. The fat with the breast he will bring, that the breast may be waved as a wave offering before JEHOVAH. 31 The priest will burn the fat on the altar, but the breast will be Aaron’s and his sons’. 32 Also the right thigh you will give to the priest as a heave offering from the sacrifices of your peace offerings. 33 He among the sons of Aaron, who offers the blood of the peace offering and the fat, will have the right thigh for his part. 34 For the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering I have taken from the children of Israel, from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons from the children of Israel by a statute forever.’”
35 This is the consecrated portion for Aaron and his sons, from the offerings made by fire to JEHOVAH, on the day Moses presented them to minister to JEHOVAH as priests. 36 JEHOVAH commanded this to be given to them by the children of Israel, on the day He anointed them, by a statute forever throughout their generations. 37 This is the law of the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering, the consecrations, and the sacrifice of the peace offering, 38 which JEHOVAH commanded Moses on Mount Sinai, on the day He commanded the children of Israel to offer their offerings to JEHOVAH in the Wilderness of Sinai.
God’s name:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Theos – Mighty God – Greek
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Iesous Christos – Jesus Christ
Hagios Pneuma – Holy Spirit, Breath
Kurios – Supreme Authority, Master
God’s character:
Instructor
People don’t think about the kind of offerings they give. They have elaborate ceremonies for every occasion. When people commit wrongdoing, they stand before a judge who gives them the punishment for their actions. They don’t look at their actions as an offering. Good or bad, their lives display an offering.
JEHOVAH told Moses how the children of Israel were to present their offerings to Him. They needed to present their offerings for every situation, good or bad. JEHOVAH also told them they could eat the offerings presented to JEHOVAH.
With Yeshuwa’s offering on the cross for your salvation, He fulfilled the law of the sacrifice and offerings.
Hebrews 10:1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices, there is a reminder of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me. 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O Theos.’”
8 Previously saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I come to do Your will, O Theos.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second.
10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Iesous Christos once for all.
11 Every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of Theos, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
15 But the Hagios Pneuma also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, 16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, says Kurios: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds, I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
The only offering or sacrifice JEHOVAH requires from you is the sacrifice of yourself.
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service.
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos.
Yeshuwa fulfilled the sacrificial law when He offered Himself as the perfect Lamb of God.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for the sacrifice Your Son made for me. Let me give You the sacrifice You require, myself as a living sacrifice because this pleases You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
