Day 102 – Dietary Laws
Leviticus 11:1 Now JEHOVAH spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the animals which you may eat among the animals on the earth: 3 Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat. 4 Nevertheless, these you will not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have cloven hooves: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; 5 the rock hyrax, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; 6 the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have cloven hooves, is unclean to you; 7 and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. 8 Their flesh you will not eat, and their carcasses you will not touch. They are unclean to you.
9 ‘These you may eat in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat. 10 However, everything in the seas or in the rivers without fins and scales, or any living thing in the water, they are an abomination to you. 11 They will be an abomination to you; you will not eat their flesh, but you will regard their carcasses as an abomination. 12 Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that will be an abomination to you.
13 ‘These you will regard as an abomination among the birds; they will not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, the vulture, the buzzard, 14 'the kite, and the falcon after its kind; 15 every raven after its kind, 16 the ostrich, the short-eared owl, the sea gull, and the hawk after its kind; 17 the little owl, the fisher owl, and the screech owl; 18 the white owl, the jackdaw, and the carrion vulture; 19 the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20 ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination to you. 21 Yet these you may eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth. 22 These you may eat: the locust after its kind, the destroying locust after its kind, the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. 23 All other flying insects which have four feet will be an abomination to you.
24 ‘By these you will become unclean; whoever touches the carcass of any of them will be unclean until evening; 25 whoever carries part of the carcass of any of them will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening: 26 the carcass of any animal which divides the foot but is not cloven-hoofed or does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Everyone who touches it will be unclean.
27 ‘Whatever goes on its paws, among all kinds of animals that go on all fours, those are unclean to you. Whoever touches any such carcass will be unclean until evening. 28 'Whoever carries any such carcass will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. It is unclean to you.
29 ‘These also will be unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth: the mole, the mouse, and the large lizard after its kind; 30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the sand reptile, the sand lizard, and the chameleon. 31 These are unclean to you among all that creep. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening. 32 Anything on which any of them falls, when they are dead will be unclean, whether it is any item of wood or clothing or skin or sack, whatever item it is, in which any work is done, it must be put in water. It will be unclean until evening; then it will be clean. 33 Any earthen vessel into which any of them falls you will break; and whatever is in it will be unclean: 34 in such a vessel, any edible food upon which water falls becomes unclean, and any drink that may be drunk from it becomes unclean. 35 Everything on which a part of any such carcass falls will be unclean; whether it is an oven or cooking stove, it will be broken down; for they are unclean and will be unclean to you.
36 ‘Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern, in which there is plenty of water, will be clean, but whatever touches any such carcass becomes unclean. 37 If a part of any such carcass falls on any planting seed which is to be sown, it remains clean. 38 If water is put on the seed, and if a part of any such carcass falls on it, it becomes unclean to you.
39 ‘If any animal which you may eat dies, he who touches its carcass will be unclean until evening. 40 He who eats of its carcass will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening. He also who carries its carcass will wash his clothes and be unclean until evening.
41 ‘Every creeping thing that creeps on the earth will be an abomination. It will not be eaten. 42 Whatever crawls on its belly, whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet among all creeping things that creep on the earth—these you will not eat, for they are an abomination. 43 You will not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps; nor will you make yourselves unclean with them, lest you be defiled by them. 44 For I am JEHOVAH your Elohiym. You will therefore consecrate yourselves, and you will be holy; for I am holy. Neither will you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 45 For I am JEHOVAH who brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You will therefore be holy, for I am holy.
46 ‘This is the law of the animals and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth, 47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.’”

God’s character:
Dietitian
People eat everything today. You can go into any grocery store and find many of the foods listed here. For those not found there, you can find them in specialty stores.
JEHOVAH gave His people a list of animals, birds, fish, and insects they were not to eat. They were to be an abomination to them.
What set the clean and unclean apart to make them inedible? Unclean animals, birds, fish, and insects ate garbage. They clean the planet. Before modern technology, those animals, birds, fish, and insects caused disease.
JEHOVAH still wants to set apart His people from the world. With the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Iesous, He gave permission for Christians to eat clean and unclean animals, birds, fish, and insects.
Acts 10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10 Then he became hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.
12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
13 A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”
14 Peter said, “Not so, Kurios! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”
15 A voice spoke to him again the second time, “What Theos has cleansed you must not call common.”
16 This was done three times. Then the object was taken up into heaven again.
Elohiym cleansed the animals for your consumption. Today, many Christians eat from the unclean list. However, when JEHOVAH gave the list to His people, it was to keep them healthy as those animals, birds, fish, and insects caused disease and could kill them.
When a dispute rose up among the Christians, they agreed about what they could and could not eat.
Acts 15:13 And after they had become silent, James answered, saying, “Men and brethren, listen to me: 14 Simon has declared how Theos at the first visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people for His name. 15 With this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: 16 ‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; 17 so that the rest of mankind may seek JEHOVAH, Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name, Says JEHOVAH who does all these things.’ 18 Known to Theos from eternity are all His works. 19 Therefore, I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, 20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. 21 For Moses has had throughout many generations those who preach him in every city, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.”
Romans 14:13 Therefore, let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
14 I know and am convinced by the Kurios Iesous that there is nothing unclean of itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15 Yet if your brother is grieved because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food the one for whom Christos died.
16 Therefore, do not let your good be spoken of as evil; 17 for the kingdom of Theos is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Hagios Pneuma.
18 For he who serves Christos in these things is acceptable to Theos and approved by men.
When you follow these simple instructions about the food you eat, you will keep yourselves holy, set apart to Theos.
Let’s pray: Father, You set me apart as holy to You when I accepted Your Son as my Savior and Lord. Help me live my life in obedience to you and not allow my actions to become a stumbling block to other Christians. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I think it is interesting to see the evolution of dietary practices and beliefs over time, especially how they are influenced by religious and cultural teachings. It's also intriguing to consider how these practices have been interpreted and applied in different ways throughout history and across various religious traditions.

There is still a lot of debate around what is healthy for us to eat, and not to eat, but you make a good point there, that that what the animals eat themselves, and even how our grain products are produced, affects their quality for eating.
The overuse of fertilisers, and the pollution of our atmosphere, and soil, affects the plants, and animals, living in them too, and so this affects us also, when we eat of them too.
