Ever pondered the beauty of a garden in full bloom, where each flower adds to the overall splendor? St. Therese of Lisieux's analogy of flowers, where she wrote "If every flower wanted to be a rose, nature would lose her springtime beauty," highlights the beauty of diversity in God's creation, a sentiment echoed in the life of St. Matthias, the apostle chosen by the Holy Spirit to replace Judas. Despite his seemingly minor role, Matthias embodies the profound truth that every individual plays a significant part in God's plan.
St. Therese's analogy speaks to a universal truth regardless of seasonal context: the beauty of diversity. In a garden, each flower possesses its own charm, contributing to the overall magnificence. Similarly, in God's grand design, every individual has a distinct role to play. St. Matthias exemplifies this truth. Though not among the original twelve apostles, he was chosen by the Holy Spirit to fill a crucial gap. His selection underscores that God's plan accommodates each person's uniqueness, regardless of prominence or recognition.
In reflecting on St. Therese's analogy and the life of St. Matthias, we are reminded of the beauty of diversity within God's plan. Just as a garden thrives with various blooms, so too does the body of Christ flourish with individuals of different backgrounds, talents, and roles.May we, like St. Therese and St. Matthias, heed the call to bloom where we are planted, trusting that our contributions, no matter how small, are essential to God's unfolding masterpiece.

You have put it so beautifully! I am a special educator and counselor. And I play an advocate for Inclusion in society. We have to advocate for Inclusion because somewhere most of us, consciously or unconsciously have started excluding diversity.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I completely agree—each person has a unique role to play, and sometimes it takes time and reflection to discover what that role is. Just like in a garden, every flower adds its own special beauty, and it's the same with us. Our contributions, no matter how small, are important in the grand design of life. Let's continue to encourage each other to bloom where we are planted and trust that our purpose will unfold in its own time.
