My project for this afternoon

Vince has had his open-heart surgery and now has a ‘teddy’ which is a folded towel. He has to press it against his chest when he coughs to help to stabilise the area where the chest has been opened.
Today, I suddenly thought that he’d need one once he came home. The towel isn’t a problem but I didn’t have tape with which to secure it. I had a mini brainwave and now I’ve crocheted two ‘straps’ to keep the towel secure. They fasten with a button on the other side and hopefully will do the trick. Sometimes I amaze myself with my good ideas!
Latest news on Vince is that he managed to walk up and down steps this morning, he is off oxygen and only occasionally needs pain-killers. He just might make it home tomorrow.

You had a great idea there, I am sure that it will work.
I hope that you have time to do up a couple of them so that he always has some to use when you are doing laundry.
He is making remarkably great progress in his recovery, it won't be long before he is home again.

@1creekgirl He came home on Thursday. We go back to the doctor tomorrow for another blood test. These happen every few days while they get the blood thinners stabilised.

That's a great solution. When my husband had his open-heart surgery, they gave him a heart pillow to use and take home. That's great news that Vince is doing stairs I hope he does come home tomorrow. Have a good day.

Oh, I hope he does get to come home. Around here, in Kansas, and I have seen it in Oklahoma as well, the heart patients are given a large red heart shaped pillow. Not valentine heart shape but anatomical heart shape. It has an image of the veins and stuff. Sometimes it has the procedure area marked. I have also heard of holding a pillow that way. I like that you have come up with a way to make it better and personalized.

He is home now, has had some soup and is napping in his recliner. We had to go straight from the hospital to his GP to be told about the right dosage of Warfarin, etc so he is a bit bombed out now.

That's a genius idea for making crocheted straps. I'm happy to hear that Vince is doing well and it would be great if he is able to come home.
