Day 133 – Judgement
Numbers 12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2 So they said, “Has JEHOVAH indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” JEHOVAH heard it.
3 (Now the man Moses was humble, more than every man on the face of the earth.)
4 Suddenly JEHOVAH said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” The three came out.
5 Then JEHOVAH came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle and called Aaron and Miriam. They both went forward.
6 Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, JEHOVAH, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. 7 Not so with My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house. 8 I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; and he sees the form of JEHOVAH. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”
9 The anger of JEHOVAH was aroused against them, and He departed.
10 When the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.
11 Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned. 12 Please do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”
13 Moses cried out to JEHOVAH, saying, “Please heal her, O El, I pray!”
14 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp for seven days, and afterward she may be received again.”
15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.
16 Afterward the people moved from Hazeroth and camped in the Wilderness of Paran.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
El – Almighty, God
Elohiym – Mighty God
Theos – Supreme Divinity, God
Soter - Savior
God’s character:
Judge
When someone slanders your good name, or talks about you, accusing you of doing something you didn’t, what do you do? You try to vindicate yourself and show you’re not the kind of person they accuse you of being.
Aaron and Miriam spoke against Moses because of the woman he married. JEHOVAH heard their complaint against His servant, and it displeased Him. He called them out, spoke to them, told them what kind of man Moses was, and unlike other prophets, He spoke to Moses face to face and he saw what He looked like. Then He passed judgment on them. Miriam became leprous. Moses pleaded for her, and JEHOVAH told them she would be leprous for seven days. JEHOVAH did nothing to Aaron because he wore priestly garments. As soon as he took them off, he died.
Numbers 20:23 JEHOVAH spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying, 24 “Aaron will be gathered to his people, for he will not enter the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against My word at the water of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son and bring them up to Mount Hor; 26 and strip Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son; for Aaron will be gathered to his people and die there.”
27 Moses did as JEHOVAH commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of the congregation.
28 Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar his son; and Aaron died on the top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
29 Now when all the congregation saw that Aaron was dead, the house of Israel mourned for Aaron thirty days.
When you work for Elohiym, His anointing is on you. When someone comes against you, He will bring judgment against the person who came against you.
Exodus 22:28 “You will not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people.”
Acts 23:5 Then Paul said, “I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, ‘You will not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’” (NKJV)
People take liberties, even those who call JEHOVAH their El. They talk against each other, and those in authority over them in the church, and in government. JEHOVAH said you are not to do that because when you do, you face His judgment. Aaron and Miriam faced His judgment. Miriam became leprous, and Aaron died. Not right away because of his priestly garments, but as soon as he took them off.
If you are one who speaks out against those in authority over you, confess your sin so Elohiym can forgive you. The only thing you are to do for those in authority is pray for them.
1 Timothy 2:1 Therefore, I exhort first, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and everyone in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Theos our Soter, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Elohiym will not count you guiltless when you speak against His anointed. Confess your sin and ask for His forgiveness. Then He will forgive you and blot out your sin.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)
Let’s pray: Father, forgive me for speaking against Your anointed leaders in authority over me. Hear my prayers and supplications for them as I bring them before You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
