What I did in art class today.

Today my taxi came at 1:25pm to take me to art class. But he went a different way, which was the long way round, and for a minute I didn't know where he was taking me! Anyway I got to the place, and he didn't charge me extra for going the long way round!
When I got there I went to the toilet and then made myself a cup of matcha green tea.
Today we were doing poppies in oil pastels. There were 9 pictures to choose from, most of which were clusters of poppies with a blue sky background. But 3 of them were sunset pictures, with one dominant poppy and some background poppies. I fancied doing a sunset one, but I didn't know which one to do so I asked Sue to print out all 3 for me before I decided.
The people who were doing blue sky pictures did the poppies first, but those of us doing a sunset one were told to do the sky first. I put in all the colours for the sky and then blended them with a paper stump. I had to keep cleaning it on a piece of sand paper.
When the sky was blended, I started on the main poppy. I put on the dark red first, then the lighter red at the bottom of the poppy. Then I added blue shadows. I did the centre in layers of blue and purple until I got it as dark as I wanted it.
I had a break and got myself another cup of tea. When I came to Bailey the dog, who was standing in my way, I said 'Scuse tail!
Then I did the green of the stem on the main poppy and the ones bending over.
Then I put in the red of the distant poppies, and the ones getting gradually nearer.
After that I put in the lightest greens, then the darker greens and then blended them in so that there was no patches. Then I put in the bud on the left.
Lastly I whitened the sun a bit and added white highlights where the sun is catching on the stems.
We went and put our pictures on the floor so that everyone could look at them. Then Tina fixed my picture, and the one from last week, with hairspray.
My taxi came to take me home at 4:55pm. I said he was going to have to wait!
I got my things together and went out to my taxi.
When I got home I showed my picture to my Mum, and I had my dinner and watched some telly.
What have you lot been getting up to today?
I hope you are all well.
Have a nice day.

@sharonelton I love poppies. We have some about to bloom in the garden. We walked a long beach this morning then did a long river walk this afternoon.
