Day 143 – Purification
Numbers 19:11 ‘He who touches the dead body of anyone will be unclean for seven days. 12 He will purify himself with water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. If he does not purify himself on the third and seventh day, he will not be clean.
13 ‘Whoever touches the body of anyone who died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of JEHOVAH. That person will be cut off from Israel. He will be unclean, because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him; his uncleanness is still on him. 14 This is the law when a man dies in a tent: Everyone who comes into the tent and those in the tent will be unclean seven days; 15 and every open vessel, which has no cover fastened on it, is unclean.
16 ‘Whoever in the open field touches one who is slain by a sword or who has died, or a bone of a man, or a grave, will be unclean seven days.
17 ‘For an unclean person, they will take some of the ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin, and running water will be put on them in a vessel. 18 A clean person will take hyssop and dip it in the water, sprinkle it on the tent, on the vessels, on the persons who were there, or on the one who touched a bone, the slain, the dead, or a grave. 19 The clean person will sprinkle the unclean on the third and seventh day; and on the seventh day he will purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and in the evening he will be clean. 20 The man who is unclean and does not purify himself will be cut off from among the assembly, because he defiled the sanctuary of JEHOVAH. The water of purification has not been sprinkled on him; he is unclean.
21 ‘It will be a perpetual statute for them. He who sprinkles the water of purification will wash his clothes; and he who touches the water of purification will be unclean until evening. 22 Whatever the unclean person touches will be unclean; and the person who touches it will be unclean until evening.’”
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
Iesous – Jesus
Theos – Supreme Divinity, God
God’s character:
Pure
Holy
Instinct tells you that if you’re dirty, you need to wash yourself. You don’t go around with filth covering you.
JEHOVAH showed different ways a person became unclean and how they were to become clean so they could come before Him in the tabernacle. If they didn’t, He would cut them off from the people. They needed to wash themselves in the water of purification on the third and seventh days after they became unclean. The water of purification came from the ashes of the red heifer they burned for a sin offering.
Before you became a Christian, you were unclean. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you became clean through His blood. When Yeshuwa rose from the dead on the third day, He provided the means of purification from sin, your salvation.
The red heifer represents the bride of Christos, you. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you died to sin. When Yeshuwa rose from the dead on the third day, He cleansed you and made you clean.
Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But Theos, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christos (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christos Iesous, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christos Iesous.
The seventh day represents JEHOVAH’S finished work. In seven days, He created the world and rested on the seventh day. He hallowed the seventh day and told His people they were to do no work on the seventh day because it was holy.
When Yeshuwa died on the cross, He declared, “It is finished”. You no longer need to wait until the seventh day to purify yourselves from sin, He completed the work JEHOVAH put in place at the foundation of the world. His death finished it. When you accept Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you are clean. His resurrection on the third day brought about your salvation.
Have you accepted the finished work of Yeshuwa on the cross for your salvation? Are you clean from sin and death? If not, you can become clean right now by accepting Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord and the finished work He provided for you.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for providing the way of salvation for me so I can be cleansed from my sin. I know I am a sinner and deserve only death and separation from You. Purify me now in the finished work of Your Son for my salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
