Day 147 – Defender
Numbers 21:1 The king of Arad, the Canaanite, who dwelt in the south, heard that Israel was coming on the road to Atharim, then he fought against Israel and took some of them prisoners.
2 Israel made a vow to JEHOVAH, and said, “If You will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
3 JEHOVAH listened to the voice of Israel and delivered up the Canaanites, and they destroyed them and their cities. They named the place Hormah.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH
God’s character:
Deliverer
Defender
What do you do when people come against you and your family? You protect and defend them against anyone who would harm them.
JEHOVAH tested His people with the small skirmish with the king of Arad in the southern part of Canaan. He allowed their defeat and the king to take some of the Israelites as prisoners.
Israel passed this test by making a vow to JEHOVAH to destroy their cities if He would deliver the people into their hands. JEHOVAH listened to His people and destroyed the Canaanites and their cities. When He did, they named the city Hormah meaning total destruction.
JEHOVAH allows Satan to come against you every day with temptations and trials to test your faith and find out if you will trust Him and turn to Him to defeat your enemy, or if you will surrender to Satan and live in defeat.
Do you sing the woe is me blues? Or do you trust JEHOVAH to defend you and defeat your enemy? Too many Christians sing the blues. They call themselves Christians, but they give up when Satan comes against them. They see no way out because they trust in their strength to turn their lives around. They pray, but don’t see answers, and give up praying.
You need to turn your song of defeat into victory by placing your trial in JEHOVAH’S hands. When you do, you will see Him defeat your enemy and turn your song of blues into a song of victory.
When Satan comes against you, pray and give the battle to JEHOVAH and watch Him defeat Satan and his trials and temptations. You will see victory in your life in ways you never thought possible when you trusted in your strength and not in JEHOVAH’S strength.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in JEHOVAH with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
You have no reason to live in defeat when JEHOVAH can defeat your enemies when you call on Him to deliver you.
Let’s pray: Father, too often I rely on my strength when Satan comes against me. Help me trust in You and lean on You when he comes against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Sometimes, it is God that tests us, as he did the Israelites, but whether it be Satan, or God, we need to trust in God for the best outcome of these trials.
God does not come against us though, as he is always for us, and God tests us to try to bring out our best qualities from us.

I agree. It's for our reliance on Him and not on ourselves. Have a blessed day.
