Wearing crocs to work

I wrote about having to take Vince to Emergency a couple of nights ago. The waiting room was full of people but mention chest pain and you’re popped in a wheelchair and trundled off to a cubicle quick smart. They took me along too.
The place was SO busy with nurses going back and forth, ambulance paramedics standing by trolleys with patients and lots of machines beeping away. What we did notice was the number of nurses and orderlies wearing crocs. I think they’re called the same in most countries. Some wore sneakers but many wore crocs.
We both wear them at home and find them very comfortable. Vin’s are built up enough that he can wear them without his orthotics. I’d never thought about their suitability as work footwear. They’re not the most attractive of footwear but obviously hospital staff find them comfortable. Do you wear crocs? Do you find them comfortable?
The photo is of my old crocs. I have pretty pink and blue ones now.

My family members who are in the medical field say that Crocs are allowed, but they may not have holes in them, they have to be enclosed in the front part. Oh, and they have to be worn with socks in the hospital. But most of the hospital people seem to wear Sketchers now.

@JudyEv I love my Sketchers. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!

I know they're very popular, but I have such weird feet that they really hurt me.

@JudyEv Other than the sandals I wear around the house, my Skechers are the most comfortable.

I don't have a pair anymore, but I used to.
My hubby loves his.
He has both inside as well as outside crocs.
They are an excellent choice of footwear as they are non slippery and offer great comfort.
I think that it is great that the hospital staff wear them.

Nurses are not allowed to wear crocks here. They all wear sort of white "clogs", comfortable but they must be closed.
I do not wear crocs, I do not find them comfortable, dangerous on the stairs and where the terrain is not even.
Those are the shoes that our nurses wear.

I also like to wear Crocs. I bought a good one on sale last 2022 and it. still looks good until now. I got it half the price at about 40 dollars.

Yes, I do. Mine are multi colored. They wouldn't win any awards for looks, but they sure are comfortable

@JudyEv Yes, I don't wear them in summer unless it might be a bit wet or possibly threatening rain, or if I don't think my toenails are short enough..

@snowy22315 I could probably find a more open-type pair if I looked hard.

Even in the Philippines I see doctors and nurses wearing crocs. Besides being comfortable (try standing for hours in surgery), their slip- resistant soles help reduce accidents given that emergency room floors could be slippery when victims of bloody assaults are brought in. They don't look professional but serve a practical purpose. Aside from the medical profession, haven't seen one in an office setting.

I am really into wearing Crocs. I recently got another pair, making it my second since they became popular. This new pair is even more comfortable than my first one, so I wear it every time I go out. Hehe

I have one but seldom wear them. I don't find them comfortable. I prefer wearing sandals in summer.

I have a pair. Have not tried my orthotics in them. I wore them shopping yesterday, in fact. For me, sneakers with orthotics is the required footwear for comfort.

If you need orthotics, then whatever footwear you have needs to accommodate them. Vince lasts about 10 minutes in bare feet or without orthotics.

I have always wondered if special sneakers would be better for nurses rather than the traditional sandals. Crocs look comfortable, but thanks but no thanks, I like my toes exposed...otherwise, there will be sweating. I think crocs make less noise, and make the person less prone to accidents at the workspace. What more, the legs may not tire as fast as with slightly heeled footwear. Whatever...hope your husband is doing better.

We call it crocs here as well. I have a blue croc that I haven't used in months. How was Vince?
