Principles of Sentencing

Trump is coming up for sentencing on July 11th. He had no respect for the court, jurors, or the judge. He pretty much slept through the whole thing. That's not far off and I know we are all wondering what might be his sentencing. Glenn Kirschner, who is someone I listen to ALOT did a video on Meidas Touch a day ago that I found very interesting on this very subject. He spoke to Michael Cohen about what Trump's sentencing might be. There are five or six different forms or principles of sentencing. Number one is rehabilitation. That would be a joke when it comes to Trump because he doesn't want to accept responsibility. Probation would just make him and others want to do it again.( It's what I call a mere tap on the wrist) Home confinement would be like a vacation where Trump can just sit back, relax, and order McDonald's. Home detention is no kind of punishment. Suspension of a sentence is nothing. It will actually encourage, not deter. A prison term is what should be expected. The public needs to see the sentence that Trump is given and make them think twice about doing such a crime. Not much is more important than deterring tomorrow's want to be dictators. It needs to be ordered executed, not stayed or anything else. The judge needs to order him to start doing the sentence immediately. Trump will try to get a stay pending his appeal. Hopefully, the apelet courts won't let that happen. Trump is not seeing any penalties so far. We have to hope that the judge will come down hard and not let the Putz get away with it once again. Thanks to Mr. Kirschner for helping us see the options Trump has and what "should" happen to this coward. Now let's see exactly what he actually DOES get.

I think the judge will likely adhere to the sentencing guidelines which in Trump's case should mean no prison time, however, he has been so aggravating and such a thorn in the judge's side he might take that into consideration. Maybe he will get a megafine..although not justice..could be helpful.

I doubt very much that he will be fined. It will be interesting to see what the judge comes up with though.

@celticeagle It has to be something that is going to hurt. What would be good is if he tells him he can't be free pending appeal. I am not sure he has the power to do that though.

I think the judge should throw the book at him... literally throw a book or two at him to wake him up.

Me too. But this is his first offense of this nature and, he is an ex-President. I think that is a bunch of hooey but, they are really treating him with kid gloves. I hate it.

July 11 will be interesting. I doubt he will get jail time. Have a good week.
