Day 156 – Inheritance Numbers 27:1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and these were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 2 They stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the leaders and the congregation, by the doorway of the tabernacle of meeting, saying, 3 “Our father died in the wilderness; but he was not in the company of those who gathered against JEHOVAH, in company with Korah, but died in his own sin; and he had no sons. 4 Why should our father’s name be removed from among his family because he had no son? Give us a possession among our father’s brothers.” 5 Moses brought their case before JEHOVAH. 6 JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 7 “The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you will give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. 8 You will speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies without a son, then you will cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter. 9 If he has no daughter, then you will give his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, then you will give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 If his father has no brothers, then you will give his inheritance to the relative closest to him in his family, and he will possess it.’” It will be a statute of judgment to the children of Israel, just as JEHOVAH commanded Moses. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus Theos – Supreme Divinity Iesous – Jesus Hagios Pneuma – Most Holy, Breath, Spirit Christos – Anointed One, Messiah Kurios – Supreme Authority, God God’s character: Mediator When people die, they often leave an inheritance to their children. Many times, disputes will arise about the dispensation of the estate after the will has been read, resulting in probate. When that happens, a mediator needs to determine who the heir to the estate becomes. Zelophehad didn’t have sons to inherit his portion in the tribe when he died, only daughters. They went to Moses to demand an inheritance among their brethren. JEHOVAH told Moses they were right. They would inherit in place of sons. He also told Moses what to do in the event of no children so the portion of their inheritance wouldn’t pass out of the tribe. His judgment became a statute in Israel. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you received an inheritance among JEHOVAH’S people because you became His child with full rights and benefits in JEHOVAH’S family. Acts 20:32 “Now, brethren, I commend you to Theos and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. In Paul’s defense before King Agrippa, he told him what Yeshuwa said to him at his conversion. Acts 26:16 ‘But rise and stand on your feet; for I appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet reveal to you. 17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to Theos, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul told the Christians about their portion in Christos. Ephesians 1: 11 In Him also we obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christos should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Hagios Pneuma of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. 15 Therefore, I also, after I heard of your faith in the Kurios Iesous and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the Theos of our Kurios Iesous Christos, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christos when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, He mediated your inheritance and called you His son and daughter. Your inheritance is sure in the body of Christos. Have you accepted Iesous Christos as your Savior and Lord? If so, your inheritance is secure. Satan cannot take it from you. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, to be my Savior and Lord and give me an inheritance as Your child. When Satan comes against me to try to persuade me that I don’t have an inheritance with You, let me remind him of who I am in You: Your child, chosen, and forgiven the moment I accepted Your Son as my Savior and Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 22 June 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.
