Day 159 – Sacrifice Numbers 29:1 ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you will have a holy convocation. You will do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets. 2 You will offer a burnt offering as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH: one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year, without blemish. 3 Their grain offering will be fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the ram, 4 and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs; 5 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, to make atonement for you; 6 besides the burnt offering with its grain offering for the New Moon, the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, as a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH. 7 ‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you will have a holy convocation. You will afflict your souls; you will do no work. 8 You will present a burnt offering to JEHOVAH as a sweet aroma: one young bull, one ram, and seven lambs in their first year. Be sure they are without blemish. 9 Their grain offering will be of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for the bull, two-tenths for the one ram, 10 and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs; 11 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the sin offering for atonement, the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings. 12 ‘On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you will have a holy convocation. You will do no customary work, and you will keep a feast to JEHOVAH for seven days. 13 You will present a burnt offering, an offering made by fire as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year. They will be without blemish. 14 Their grain offering will be of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ephah for each of the thirteen bulls, two-tenths for each of the two rams, 15 and one-tenth for each of the fourteen lambs; 16 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 17 ‘On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 18 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance; 19 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings. 20 ‘On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 21 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 22 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 23 ‘On the fourth day present ten bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year, without blemish, 24 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 25 also one kid of the goats as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 26 ‘On the fifth day present nine bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 27 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 28 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 29 ‘On the sixth day present eight bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 30 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 31 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 32 ‘On the seventh day present seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen lambs in their first year without blemish, 33 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bulls, for the rams, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 34 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 35 ‘On the eighth day you will have a sacred assembly. You will do no customary work. 36 You will present a burnt offering, an offering made by fire as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH: one bull, one ram, seven lambs in their first year without blemish, 37 and their grain offering and their drink offerings for the bull, for the ram, and for the lambs, by their number, according to the ordinance, 38 also one goat as a sin offering, besides the regular burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering. 39 These you will present to JEHOVAH at your appointed feasts (besides your vowed offerings and your freewill offerings) as your burnt offerings and your grain offerings, as your drink offerings and your peace offerings.’” 40 Moses told the children of Israel everything, just as JEHOVAH commanded him. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus Theos – Supreme Divinity Iesous – Jesus God’s character: Holy Many times, in your life you go to events that last several days. For those events, you have an itinerary you follow, so you know where you should be at any given time. JEHOVAH told Moses the men of Israel were to appear before Him three times a year with their offerings. Passover, the Feast of Weeks, and the Day of Atonement. JEHOVAH concluded His requirements with the Day of Atonement and the offerings for each day. Each day they brought a certain number of bulls, lambs, rams, and a kid for the sin offering, without blemish. Today, you no longer bring animal sacrifices to JEHOVAH. However, He still requires you to give a sacrifice to Him for everything He did for you. He provided the perfect Lamb for the sin offering, His Son, Yeshuwa, who died on the cross for your sin. JEHOVAH still requires you to come before Him in worship and praise. Many Christians see the law fulfilled and the need to present themselves before JEHOVAH as null and void. They stay home and spend their time on their projects and recreation, and then wonder why they can’t get ahead. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos. Who is your Theos when you stay home, forsaking getting together with other believers? Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 Let us consider one another to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. When you give yourself as a living sacrifice to Theos, He will bless you. When you spend the first part of your week with Him in worship and praise with other believers, He will bless you. When you give Theos your tithes and offerings, He will bless you. JEHOVAH doesn’t restrict you and give you laws that only benefit Him, but His laws and requirements are for your blessings. When you honor Him, He will bless you. Next time you want to stay home and work on your hobbies, consider who benefits? When you give Him the first part, He will bless you and you can spend the rest of your time on whatever you desire. Psalm 37:3 Trust in JEHOVAH, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in JEHOVAH, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to JEHOVAH, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. 7 Rest in JEHOVAH and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left everything and followed You.” 29 Iesous answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of Theos and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. When you give JEHOVAH your best and first, He will bless you. It’s His promise. When Israel honored Him with their best sacrificial offerings, He blessed them. Let’s pray: Father, let Your blessing rest on me as I give You the best sacrifice of myself, I can give. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 25 June 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

The animal sacrifices were to secure forgiveness, but with the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we no longer have to secure forgiveness, by shedding the blood of animals, as we can ask God for forgiveness, through his son Jesus.
