Day 160 – Vows Numbers 30:1 Then Moses spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Israel, saying, “This is the thing which JEHOVAH commanded: 2 If a man makes a vow to JEHOVAH, or swears an oath to bind himself by some agreement, he will not break his word; he will do according to everything that proceeds out of his mouth. 3 “Or if a woman makes a vow to JEHOVAH and binds herself by some agreement while in her father’s house in her youth, 4 and her father hears her vow and the agreement by which she bound herself, and her father holds his peace, then her vows will stand, and every agreement with which she bound herself will stand. 5 If her father overrules her on the day that he hears, then none of her vows nor her agreements by which she bound herself will stand; and JEHOVAH will release her, because her father overruled her. 6 “If indeed she takes a husband, while bound by her vows or by a rash utterance from her lips by which she bound herself, 7 and her husband hears it, and makes no response to her on the day he hears, then her vows will stand, and her agreements by which she bound herself will stand. 8 If her husband overrules her on the day he hears it, he will make void her vow which she took and what she uttered with her lips, by which she bound herself, and JEHOVAH will release her. 9 “Also, any vow of a widow or a divorced woman, by which she bound herself, will stand against her. 10 If she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound herself by an agreement with an oath, 11 and her husband heard it, and made no response to her and did not overrule her, then her vows will stand, and every agreement by which she bound herself will stand. 12 If her husband truly made them void on the day he heard them, then whatever proceeded from her lips concerning her vows or concerning the agreement binding her, will not stand; her husband made them void, and JEHOVAH will release her. 13 “Every vow and every binding oath to afflict her soul, her husband may confirm it, or her husband may make it void. 14 Now if her husband makes no response whatever to her from day to day, then he confirms all her vows or the agreements that bind her; he confirms them, because he made no response to her on the day he heard them. 15 If he makes them void after he heard them, then he will bear her guilt.” 16 These are the statutes which JEHOVAH commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, and between a father and his daughter in her youth in her father’s house. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Holy Everyone makes vows at various times in their lives. They vow to love their wives or husbands in the marriage ceremony; they vow to pay their bills; they even make rash vows with no meaning. JEHOVAH told Moses to tell the people what vows held meaning and which ones didn’t. Every vow a man made was binding on him. However, the vows made by a woman could be disallowed if her father or husband heard them and didn’t agree with them. Do you know you made a vow when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord? You vowed to commit your life to Him, to honor Him in everything. Yet how often do your vows go unfulfilled? Your commitment didn’t go further than your lips. You forgot it as soon as you spoke the words. Then there are those who take their commitment to Yeshuwa seriously, and honor Him in everything they say and do. Which type of person are you? Do you honor JEHOVAH in everything you do? Or did you forget your vows the moment you spoke them? JEHOVAH will not hold you guiltless if you don’t keep your vows to Him. He will withhold His blessing from your life until you get serious with your vows to Him. Psalm 37:3 Trust in JEHOVAH, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in JEHOVAH, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. 7 Rest in JEHOVAH and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm. 9 For evildoers will be cut off; but those who wait on JEHOVAH, will inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while and the wicked will be no more; indeed, you will look carefully for his place, but it will be no more. 11 The meek will inherit the earth and will delight themselves in the abundance of peace. When you commit yourself to JEHOVAH, you make a vow to live your life for Him alone. When you fulfill your vows, He will bless you? Did you see the blessings He promised you in the verses above? Determine to live your life for Him today and watch His blessings multiply in your life. Let’s pray: Father, I committed my life to You when I accepted Your Son as Savior and Lord. Help me keep my vows and live in Your blessings. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 26 June 2024 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

God values the power of a vow, and we should do so too, and try to follow our vows, to follow God, and to serve God in our life. Vows should be made sincerely from our heart, and fashioned when we have a cool mind too, as vows made with hot, and stormy minds, are usually not sincerely, and truly, made. We should take vows seriously, and not make them in vain.
