We Lost Power for Over 24 Hours

It was quite a storm that hit, especially those powerful winds! I didn't want to stay on the road, because tree limbs were falling in some places.
That's why I didn't drive home, it was safer to just stay put. Around 5:00P our power went out(Tuesday). And, it didn't come back on until 8:00P tonight(Wed.)
Jay drove to Ann Arbor today, he had a doctor's appointment. It's about a three hour drive. He needed to sign in at 10:00A this morning.
It seemed strange not being able to use our microwave, the electric stove or make a pot of coffee. I ended up at Burger King for a fresh cup of coffee. I had leftovers to warm up, but couldn't do it.
When the power finally came on, what a relief! Jay had flashlights laying around the house, in case we needed to see something.
At least we had hot water, enough to take a shower. Hopefully, our power is on for good:)

I´m very sorry. We had that problem a couple of weeks ago and it is very difficult to live with no electricity.

@MarieCoyle Dixie told me that she would lend me a device that charges batteries for a long time. I need at least some light just in case the light goes out after an earthquake. The rest can be managed. After the earthquake on February 2010, I did not have power for 3 days. And I did not even lose anything in the freezer. Still I threw away the seafood just in case, but it was not thawed.

I know Ive mentioned this before, but in weird world we are trying to live in, I think it’s worth mentioning again. Every home needs a weather/emergency radio. They are not expensive! It can run on regular power, OR batteries. It will continually update you for storms, bad happenings, whatever.
The big thing is, they all have USB ports. You can charge phones, whatever needs to be charged!!! When the chips are down, it’s important to have a phone that works.

@kobesbuddy That is accurate; having that one on hand is essential in case there are power outages.

@Aquitaine24 Since we live in the capital city, power outages is quite rare in where I live. But in the provinces, this is quite often happening, which can be quite annoying.

@kobesbuddy Do you ever play cards when you have no power? You can't do that in the dark of course!

Power outages are so inconvenient. We are all used to having power and when we don’t, we are just lost. At least, I am!
Glad it came back on. We had some big winds yesterday, some people were without power still this evening. Mine wasn’t affected, I was thankful for that.

A three-hour drive to the doctor? Makes me feel weird because my doctor's office is just down the main street about a 1/2 mile away. Good to have those awful fast food places in times like that huh?

Power outages are never fun. Growing up they seemed like a right of passage. We lose them for days at a time. I'm glad you only had to deal with it for a day.

@kobesbuddy I know that if we don't get our power back within a couple minutes of losing it, we won't see it for at least a week minium.

I'm sorry your power was out. We have a standby generator now that automatically goes on when the power goes out. I told my husband that I didn't want to go through another week without heat in the winter time. Have a good day.

Well, that seems to have a tough 24 hours, I too have experienced one , but that lasted 3 days. Unfortunately, the area I was staying had flooded and hence the power loss. Since the weather was nice, sleep did not have much problems. However, it was tough with food and showers. Luckily, things became normal after three days. Thanks for sharing!
