I am going to be 73 in November. I am now walking with a cane and I have a Hurrycane made of metal with a sturdy hard hand grip covered in rubber. The other morning I had to go the 8 to 12 steps to the bathroom for that early morning relief. Half asleep I stand my cane in the corner and start to step forward when the cane topples and the cane handle falls directly on my left middle toe. Now I have heard women say you don't know true pain until you've given birth. Well, I gave birth about 50+ years ago and, the pain I felt when my cane fell directly on my little defenseless toe would rival that. I'm pretty sure my neighbors on either side of us may have heard me cry out although I didn't wake my daughter whose room is just across the hall. Suffice it to say the pain was extraordinary.

Thanks. Each time I step forward with that foot it hurts. I wonder how long that will last.

I should feel sorry for your pain but you evidently maintain your sense of humor when describing how the pain was greater than giving birth. Nothing beats that although the joy do compensate, which your accident obviously didn't. Being the joker that I am and I hope you don't take offense, perhaps you should switch your "Hurrycane" for a "Slowdown cane"? Please take care of your middle toe.

@celticeagle ~I have many aches and pains due to growing old. I found humor the best way to drive off depression and self-pity. Are you taking any medication for the pain, and has there been any improvement? Take care.

@josie_ ........So do I. Yes, I use Aspercreme and take Aleve when needed. Also exercise my legs when I am able to. I love a good laugh and do a lot of things to ward off major depression.
