Day 166 – Bride
Numbers 36:1 Now the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the leaders, the chief fathers of the children of Israel. 2 They said, “JEHOVAH commanded my lord Moses to give the land as an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel, and my lord was commanded by JEHOVAH to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters. 3 Now if they marry any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry; it will be taken from the lot of our inheritance. 4 When the Jubilee of the children of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry; their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.”
5 Then Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of JEHOVAH, saying, “What the tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks is right. 6 This is what JEHOVAH commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, ‘Let them marry whom they think best, but they may marry only within the family of their father’s tribe.’ 7 The inheritance of the children of Israel will not change hands from tribe to tribe, for every one of the children of Israel will keep the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. 8 Every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel will be the wife of one of the family of her father’s tribe, so that the children of Israel each may possess the inheritance of his fathers. 9 Thus, no inheritance will change hands from one tribe to another, but every tribe of the children of Israel will keep its own inheritance.”
10 Just as JEHOVAH commanded Moses so did the daughters of Zelophehad; 11 for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married the sons of their father’s brothers.
12 They married into the families of the children of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father’s family.
13 These are the commandments and the judgments which JEHOVAH commanded the children of Israel by the hand of Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, across from Jericho.

Arranged marriages took place in many countries for centuries, and in some countries still take place today, especially among the upper class and royalty.
The tribe of Manasseh of Joseph’s family went to Moses about the marriage of the daughters of Zelophehad, worried that they would marry outside their tribe and take their portion of the inheritance with them. JEHOVAH instructed Moses not to allow the inheritance to pass out of the tribe, but they were to marry only within their tribe to ensure their inheritance stayed within their tribe.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed to live a life of obedience to Him and JEHOVAH, your Father. When it comes to marriage, Paul told the believers they were not to marry someone who wasn’t a Christian because they would be unequally yoked.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? What communion has light with darkness?
15 What accord does Christos have with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
16 What agreements has the temple of Theos with idols? For you are the temple of the living Theos. As Theos has said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
17 Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Kurios. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Kurios Pantokrator.”
You are the temple of the Hagios Pneuma. He dwells in you. However, if you married before you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you are instructed not to divorce. Remember, Theos hates divorce.
1 Corinthians 7:12 But to the rest I, not the Kurios, say, If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her.
13 And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him.
14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise, your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.
15 But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. Theos has called us to peace.
16 For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife?
You also know that as Theos’ child, you are the bride of Christos. One day your Bridegroom will return, and you will be one with Him.
Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
8 To her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” He said to me, “These are the true sayings of Theos.”
JEHOVAH arranged your marriage at the foundation of the world. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you sealed your marriage to Him. You only wait for the marriage supper.
Have you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord? If so, you belong to Him, and He to you. If not, you have time to make Him Lord of your life and call Him your husband.
Isaiah 54:5 For your Maker is your husband, JEHOVAH of hosts is His name; and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the Elohiym of the whole earth.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you. I praise You that I am Your child, called to be a bride to Your Son. Thank you for arranging my marriage at the foundation of the world. You clothed me in garments of righteousness as a fitting bride for Your Son. Let me honor and bless Him from now through eternity. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

My grandfather was the oldest of eight (four of each), born to Ukrainian immigrants. Grandpa and his three younger brothers married whoever they wanted, but my great-aunts' marriages were all arranged. This was in Oklahoma.

@just4him Grandpa was born in 1914, and his sisters were born between 1918 and 1924. I hope your day and Independence Day weekend are blessed, too.

My father was of the old school thinking, and he didn't want his children to marry someone from even another race.
When his 3 sons did this though, he came around in the end, seeing that marriages can be good ones, even in this case.
Marrying an unbeliever must be also hard, and it can try our own faith probably at times too.
My brother is an atheist, and he tries hard to undermine me in my beliefs, but so far, he hasn't been able to do so. I listen to him, because he is my brother.

@just4him Yes, he mellowed with age, and was not as hard-lined as before.
