What is it about the number 50?

What is it about the number 50 that seems to have such great appeal?
An online search for ‘Fifty things’ books will bring up a whole list, from the serious ‘Fifty things that made the modern economy’ through the frivolous ‘Fifty things to do before you die’ (I mean – when else are you going to do them?) to the downright silly ‘Fifty things to do while you poo’ and including books for children such as ‘Fifty things to do before you’re 11¾’ or ‘Fifty things to do with a stick’ (personally I think it’s a sad indictment of modern life if children need to be told what to do with a stick!)
I was wondering about this after the discussion about cryopreservation yesterday. I’m seriously considering writing more on this subject and I wondered if I could come up with enough factors to write ‘Fifty things to consider before you get yourself cryopreserved’.
What do you think?

@Fleura ‘Fifty things to do after you die’
I can only think of two:
1. Decompose.
2. Haunt someone
Ok, I’ve thought of a 3rd - Rot in hell.

I would rather gloat on 3. My mother did everything in 3.

‘Fifty things to do while you poo’ would be great for those suffering from constipation. It must be difficult just staring at the walls and straining.
I couldn’t think of 50 things to do with a stick, but I could think of 50 people I’d like to poke with a stick!

50 represents mid life. That scares people.

50 is a nice even number. I'm sure there's a book out there about 50 Ways to Earn Extra Money. Have a wonderful day and weekend!

We all have affinities to 10,50 and 100 and all multiples from there on. These numbers are considered as milestones or landmarks. Compared to other numbers, we feel these are halfway marks or the full ones. For many topics, it becomes attractive when we state we have fifty reasons for X or Y . It plays with our curiousity. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Perhaps because the number is half from 100
