Black Roses?

I have seen all manner of colored roses in my day. Some artificial and some real. But the black one seems rare. I came across this information on Facebook yesterday and wanted to share it. It seems that the only place in the world where black roses grow is in Türkiye which is fed by the waters of the Euphrates. It is a very rare type of flower only found in the village of Halfeti which is the southeastern province of Sanliurfa, near Urfa province. They appear black only during the summer, other times they are dark red. The density of the soil and the combination of anthocyanins, and water-soluble pigments causes this particular variety. This pigment is quite sensitive to PH and so this soil has a large impact. Different regions lend their unique touch to the cultivation and this causes different shades and characteristics. Black roses are a symbol of the unknown as well as farewell and rebirth. Legends tell of ancient societies where the black rose was used in secret rituals and ceremonies which added to their mystique. They symbolize the darker aspects of life-- such as the farewell to old habits and the welcoming of new ones, the courage to venture into the unknown, and the mystery of the unseen.
