Today is the day of the Hearing for the Appeal with the US Department of Health & Human Services for my husband's stay at the rehab facility. It will be over the phone; and I hope I don't screw it up.
Hubby hurt his back; so he didn't do steps Monday and Tuesday. He will ask that he does steps for the rest of the week. He is advancing with his stationary bike riding, etc.; and he is getting better with the transfers from the wheelchair to the bed and the bed to the wheelchair. I still have no idea when he will be ready to come home. I have paid for his stay through July 31.
The concrete company will be starting on the front steps today. They will be making shallower steps and eventually installing handrails. With the lower steps, maybe my husband can come into the house via the front porch instead of the steep steps in the garage.
Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts.

@rebelann He has been able to stand up and transfer himself to his bed. He will be doing steps hopefully today in physical therapy.

We are thinking about resale value. The shallow steps should be OK for him.

It sounds like your husband is making some progress. I am glad the people will be there for the steps to get them right.

@LindaOHio —
Sometimes they try to intimidate you in those hearings.

@FourWalls The judge was very nice; but by the time I realized what information she was going after, it was too late. I forgot to mention two important things that involved skilled nursing.

From the way that the conversation went, we aren't going to win.

That's good you are having the steps to your house made better for him when he does come home.

Yes, they are much lower than the garage ones.

It could have gone better; but it is what it is.

Sending good thoughts and vibes that the hearing goes well.
Lower steps should make it easier for your hubby to navigate when he comes home (hopefully soon)
