The Little Celery That Could

In about one and a half million years I should have a fully grown stalk of celery. But it is growing which is a fun little thing to see. I'd never heard of doing this before @MarieCoyle clued me in on this little idea.
I had a celery bottom and figured, what do I have to lose if I just give it a go? So, I took the bottom and put it into a container with some water on the 9th, and here we are 8 days later with notable growth.
Not enough to eat it, and I really have no idea how long it will take before it looks like a celery stalk. But it's definitely growing.
I swear. The things myLot makes me do sometimes.

You should time lapse it and put it on tik tok. It would probably make you go viral. People watch the silliest things.

@porwest Lol, never too late to start.
Are you still on TikTok? I haven't been on much in the last couple of days, but I can't remember the last time I saw a video of yours?

@thislittlepennyearns I really haven't posted anything new to TikTok for probably over a year. I might go back at some point, but my inclination now is toward YouTube shorts IF I were to go that route, or to even start posting other kinds of videos to YouTube.

Hey, it's fun to try it, anyway, good for you!
One of my grandmothers used to do this. She said when living in Canada, she heard about doing this and since they have a short growing season (or did at that time) she would start it in the house and then plant it outside. She also said they didn't grow as big in the house, which is correct. I think my tallest one got to be 9-10 inches tall, and yes, we chopped it up and ate it.
Hey, I love the title of the post!

@MarieCoyle I have never eaten the leaves. Maybe I need to try. Hmm.

I really love the taste of chopped celery leaves in my cooking, so they never, ever go to waste. Usually, it grows more than one stalk, but not always. But it's free...and good, and enough to go in a dish to help it be tasty. Besides, you're using it up to the extreme, which to me, is important.
