Day 188 – Guidelines
Deuteronomy 23:1 “He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation will not enter the assembly of JEHOVAH. 2 One of illegitimate birth will not enter the assembly of JEHOVAH; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants will enter the assembly of JEHOVAH. 3 An Ammonite or Moabite will not enter the assembly of JEHOVAH; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants will enter the assembly of JEHOVAH forever, 4 because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you. 5 Nevertheless, JEHOVAH your Elohiym would not listen to Balaam, but JEHOVAH your Elohiym turned the curse into a blessing for you, because JEHOVAH your Elohiym loves you. 6 You will never seek their peace nor their prosperity. 7 You will not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You will not abhor an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land. 8 The children of the third generation born to them may enter the assembly of JEHOVAH.
9 “When the army goes out against your enemies, then keep yourself from every wicked thing. 10 If there is any man among you who becomes unclean by some occurrence in the night, then he will go outside the camp; he will not come inside the camp. 11 It will happen, when evening comes, that he will wash with water; and when the sun sets, he may come into the camp. 12 Also, you will have a place outside the camp, where you may go out; 13 and you will have an implement among your equipment, and when you sit down outside, you will dig with it and turn and cover your refuse. 14 For JEHOVAH your Elohiym walks in the middle of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore, your camp will be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.
15 “You will not give back to his master the slave who escaped from his master to you. 16 He may dwell with you in your midst, in the place which he chooses within one of your gates, where it seems best to him; you will not oppress him.
17 “There will be no ritual harlot of the daughters of Israel, or a perverted one of the sons of Israel. 18 You will not bring the wages of a harlot or the price of a dog to the house of JEHOVAH your Elohiym for any vowed offering, for both are an abomination to JEHOVAH your Elohiym.
19 “You will not charge interest to your brother—interest on money or food or anything that is lent out at interest. 20 To a foreigner you may charge interest, but to your brother you will not charge interest, so that JEHOVAH your Elohiym may bless you in everything you set your hand in the land which you are entering to possess.
21 “When you make a vow to JEHOVAH your Elohiym, you will not delay paying it; for JEHOVAH your Elohiym will require it of you, and it would be a sin to you. 22 If you abstain from vowing, it will not be a sin to you. 23 That which has gone from your lips you will keep and perform, for you voluntarily vowed to JEHOVAH your Elohiym what you promised with your mouth.
24 “When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes at your pleasure, but you will not put any in your container. 25 When you come into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the heads with your hand, but you will not use a sickle on your neighbor’s standing grain.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
God’s character:
Merciful
People need guidelines, but don’t want them. They want to make their decisions and do what they feel is best for them.
JEHOVAH gave Israel guidelines to live by in every area of their lives. He knew they would intermingle with the nations and told them who could and could not enter His assembly and when they could enter the assembly. JEHOVAH told them how to take care of their personal needs and where they could relieve themselves so they would remain pure. He told them they were not to charge interest to their brethren, but they could charge interest to foreigners. Harlots and dogs—those who rejected JEHOVAH and served other gods, were not allowed in the assembly. Those who made a vow to JEHOVAH needed to pay it and not delay. JEHOVAH also told them they could eat their neighbor’s grapes and grain, but they could not harvest it.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you accepted the guidelines JEHOVAH gave His people. You changed your status from dog to a child of the KING of Kings and LORD of Lords.
Revelation 22:13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 Outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
Because you changed your status, you have every right and privilege afforded to JEHOVAH’S chosen people. Every promise He gave them belongs to you. He will fight for you against your enemies because your enemies are His enemies.
Too often Christians don’t know their status and believe Elohiym will not listen to them, or care about them. They do not realize their position as His child. When you realize who you are in the body of Christos, you will not hesitate to take hold of every promise JEHOVAH gave His people, and you will find prosperity in everything you do for JEHOVAH.
Take hold of JEHOVAH’S promises, read the guidelines, your Bible, and get to know Yeshuwa. Then you will see a change in your life as you follow what Scripture says.
Let’s pray: Father, Your guidelines are my life. Help me to read, study, and pray for Your leading in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

God certainly was interested in guiding his people in every area of their life, and if we respect God now, in our life, he is always there to guide us directly too, through himself, his son, and his Holy Spirit.
