Water, Water , Everywhere

My one disappointment with Friday's opening ceremony of the Olympics in Paris was this.
My favorite part of Olympic opening ceremonies is usually the march of over 100 teams entering the stadium in alphabetical order and led by their flag bearers.
Friday's presentation was different - the teams ensconced in boats sailed down the river Seine - the larger the team, larger the boat. I couldn't feel the usual connection.
Then the skies opened and there was rain, sometimes heavy , sometimes light. Which resulted in most of the athletes being soaked and having to remain in their soggy uniforms for the duration of the 4 hour ceremony.
Of course that couldn't dampen their spirits. Getting to the Olympics is a big thing, something many athletes can only dream about.
Otherwise it was a splendid opening ceremony , and the tens of thousands of soldiers and police officers are doing their very best to keep the athletes and other attendees safe - two incidents so far.
I am waiting patiently and so looking forward to the Track and Field events in a few days. If you could be an accomplished sporting personality. Which sport would it be?

My favorite part of the Summer Olympics is the Gymnastics. It is so fascinating how the athletes can do those flips.

@Kandae11 yes, the ice skating, figure skating is my favorite during the Winter Olympics.

I appreciated that it was such a different presentation, but I kinda felt like you about the boats. As cool as it was for all to ride down the river, most of the countries were in separate boats, so it was almost not a feeling of "unity". In an arena, they would be together and mingling. In my younger days, I would have loved getting into gymnastics!

I haven't watched the opening ceremony. My favorite event is swimming.

I would be Usain bolt, gebrsellassie, mofarrah for the men. And dibaba for the women in the 10k meter race.
