Braunschweiger For the Wife

I cannot eat it. No way, no how, and I am NOT a picky eater. But Braunschweiger is just something that's not going into my mouth under any circumstance.
But she likes it, and I won't hold it against her. My wife, that is.
We were at Walmart today tooling around and she came over with a tube of Braunschweiger. "Do I have permission to get this?" she asked.
"Since when do you need permission?" I told her and chuckled.
"I don't know," she said. "I figured I'd have to run it past the master."
Since when am I the master? Half the time I say no, she gives me the cold shoulder, and I am master of NOTHING. She ultimately gets what she wants and I am simply left to say yes.
In any event, it was only $3.19. More than we pay at Aldi where she normally gets it. I guess I will just have to do more work in the markets to pay for it on Monday.
Ultimately I will have to do the work to cover the expense for something I won't even eat. How is this fair?
Oh well. I vape and drink beer and she doesn't suck on my vape or drink my beer, so maybe we're even?
I am still trying to figure out what the hell I am actually the master of. If I were a guessing man, had I told her to put the Braunschweiger back, I'd have been master of the COUCH. By myself, mind you!

My husband lets me have anything I want. He's so good that way. Maybe it's because I don't require that much and he loves me unconditionally! Sigh. I do miss him. I'm glad Dawn got her Braunschweiger. Happy wife...happy life. My husband got his Lo Mein; so he's a happy husband. Have a good week.

@porwest I'm glad I don't have to argue to get what I want. I just go ahead and order it unless it's a major purchase.

@LindaOHio We have a $100 rule around here. Under $100 is mostly fine, beyond that we have to discuss it. But she's usually VERY good to talk to me first if it's $25 or more. And usually I just say, "Just do what you want."
I make note of it and just make it up in the stock market.

You have to give a little to take a little & the door flops both ways
so if you make the $ she gets to spend it & that's the BEST part
BUT, visa versa on that, if SHE makes the $ you get to spend it
BUT in OUR relationship we SHARE our $ but I'm the boss on
what we buy when & where & how much we spend.

@porwest So what you say goes I take it? we don't control
anything in our lives, we think about what NEEDS to be done
& talk about about WHAT we're going to do with our $ like
what bills need to be paid & what we need to buy.

@2ndchances24 No. It works like Congress. We discuss, we share our thoughts and ideas, I sign the checks and make the final decision. lol

YUM for Braunschweiger!! I'm with your wife and love that stuff. Hope you're spending the day making extra money to pay for that liverwurst

Ew I hate that she asked for permission to buy it. That is just awful.
Growing up my neighbors' mom would make us liverwurst sandwiches. I LOVED them. Yeah loved them until I learned what was actually in liverwurst. I'd probably still love one today just like I would like a hot dog. I just can't eat that stuff now that I know what actually goes into them.

Braunschweiger was more popular when I was a child than it is now. We are more aware of what’s in our food? At least, I am.
I do have a fun Braunschweiger memory. One of my grandfathers swore that it was the best fish bait ever. He pinched it off in little pieces and molded it around the fish hook. He always caught big fish, so maybe he was right!

There are some things that I just don't like. Bologna. Pepperoni is, to me, one of the greasiest, most disgusting things on earth. I won't eat escargot. Anything slimy is a big NO from me as well.

@MarieCoyle I actually like bologna. Man, give me a bologna sandwich with cheese and onions any day of the week and I'd be in Heaven. lol. As for pepperoni, I don't mind it on pizza, although it is not a preference. I can't eat escargot at all.

I do not eat it, but Bob does. I bought it for our trip though and he did not eat it, so I tossed it. It was from Aldi, but no matter, it was not worth the risk of food poisoning.

That is the one thing I hate. I love liverwurst but that Braunschweiger is so small and cuts into my budget, I remember the day of thickly sliced liverwurst from the delis in NYC, SIGH wish I could find some decent liverwurst somewhere,
