Day 195 – Obedience Deuteronomy 29:1 These are the words of the covenant which JEHOVAH commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant which He made with them in Horeb. 2 Moses called Israel and said to them, “You have seen everything JEHOVAH did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh and to his servants and to his land— 3 the great trials which your eyes have seen, the signs, and those great wonders. 4 Yet JEHOVAH has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day. 5 I led you for forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes did not wear out, and your sandals did not wear out on your feet. 6 You did not eat bread, nor drink wine or similar drink, so that you may know I am JEHOVAH your Elohiym. 7 When you came to this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we conquered them. 8 We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh. 9 Therefore, keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in everything you do. 10 “You stand today before JEHOVAH your Elohiym: your leaders, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, every man of Israel, 11 your little ones and your wives—also the stranger in your camp, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water— 12 so that you may enter into covenant with JEHOVAH your Elohiym, and into His oath, which JEHOVAH your Elohiym makes with you today, 13 so that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be Elohiym to you, just as He spoke to you, and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 14 “I make this covenant and this oath, not with you alone, 15 but with him who stands here with us today before JEHOVAH our Elohiym, as well as with him who is not here with us today 16 (for you know we dwelt in the land of Egypt and came through the nations which you passed by, 17 and you saw their abominations and their idols which were among them—wood and stone and silver and gold); 18 so that there may not be among you man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from JEHOVAH our Elohiym, to go and serve the elohiym of these nations, and that there may not be among you a root bearing bitterness or wormwood; 19 and it may not happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I will have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart’ —as though the drunkard could be included with the sober. 20 JEHOVAH would not spare him; for then the anger of JEHOVAH and His jealousy would burn against that man, and every curse written in this book would settle on him, and JEHOVAH would blot out his name from under heaven. 21 JEHOVAH would separate him from every tribe of Israel for adversity, according to the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law, 22 so that the coming generation of your children who rise up after you, and the foreigner who comes from a far land, would say, when they see the plagues of that land and the sicknesses which JEHOVAH has laid on it: 23 ‘The whole land is brimstone, salt, and burning; it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor does any grass grow there, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which JEHOVAH overthrew in His anger and His wrath.’ 24 Every nation would say, ‘Why has JEHOVAH done so to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ 25 Then people would say, ‘Because they forsook the covenant of JEHOVAH Elohiym of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt; 26 for they went and served other elohiym and worshiped them, elohiym they did not know, and He had not given to them. 27 Then the anger of JEHOVAH was aroused against this land, to bring on it every curse that is written in this book. 28 JEHOVAH uprooted them from their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.’ 29 “The secret things belong to JEHOVAH our Elohiym, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, so that we may do the words of this law. God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Elohiym – Supreme God Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Merciful When you talk to people, how do they seem to you? Do they appear humble or arrogant? Do they take credit for everything in their lives, or do they acknowledge who brought them to their place in life? Moses told the children of Israel JEHOVAH brought them out of Egypt with His mighty hand and power. They did not do it alone. Elohiym fought for them when they went to battle with their enemies. He told them that if they obeyed JEHOVAH none of the curses, He gave them in the Book of the Law would come upon them. However, if they disobeyed Him and became arrogant and didn’t give Elohiym credit for everything He did for them through those forty years in the wilderness, He would uproot them and cast them out of the land He promised them. Then every nation would know they disobeyed their Elohiym. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you made a covenant with Elohiym to obey Him in everything He told you. When you do, you receive His blessings in your life. However, when you go your own way, and take credit for your accomplishments, JEHOVAH will take His blessings from you in the same way He promised to take the blessings from His chosen people. What does your life look like? Do you know JEHOVAH’S blessings in your life? Or is it full of chaos and misery? Obedience brings blessings. Disobedience brings curses. Assess your life. If you see more trouble than prosperity, confess your sin to Yeshuwa and He will forgive you, and bring you into a right relationship with Him. He will bless you beyond your imagination, and you will know His love for you, and you will never stray from Him again. Let’s pray: Father, I want Your blessing in my life. Help me to live an obedient life in You, trusting You to take care of me in everything You entrust me with for Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. If it weren't for the Lord's love, presence and blessings, I'd have no reason to wake up.

We should never turn away from God, as we all need him in our lives. We all have much to learn still from what he reveals to each one of us in our lives, but from this reading, God does hold onto some secrets for himself alone to know.

Religion does nothing. Only a relationship with Jesus gives hope and keeps us alive. Have a good day.
