Day 197 – Instructions
Deuteronomy 31:1 Then Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel. 2 He said to them, “I am one hundred and twenty years old today. I can no longer go out and come in. Also, JEHOVAH said to me, ‘You will not cross over this Jordan.’ 3 JEHOVAH your Elohiym crosses over before you; He will destroy these nations from before you, and you will dispossess them. Joshua crosses over before you, as JEHOVAH said. 4 JEHOVAH will do to them as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites and their land, when He destroyed them. 5 JEHOVAH will give them over to you, that you may do to them according to every commandment which I commanded you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for JEHOVAH your Elohiym, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
7 Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which JEHOVAH swore to their fathers to give them, and you will cause them to inherit it. 8 JEHOVAH is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”
9 Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH, and to the elders of Israel. 10 Moses commanded them, saying, “At the end of every seven years, at the appointed time in the year of release, at the Feast of Tabernacles, 11 when Israel appears before JEHOVAH your Elohiym in the place which He chooses, you will read this law before Israel in their hearing. 12 Gather the people together, men and women and little ones, and the stranger within your gates, that they may hear and learn to fear JEHOVAH your Elohiym and observe the words of this law, 13 and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear JEHOVAH your Elohiym as long as you live in the land which you cross the Jordan to possess.”
14 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Behold, the days approach when you must die; call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of meeting, that I may inaugurate him.”
Then Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of meeting.
15 JEHOVAH appeared at the tabernacle in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood above the door of the tabernacle. 16 JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Behold, you will rest with your fathers; and this people will rise and play the harlot with the elohiym of the foreigners of the land, where they go to be among them, and they will forsake Me and break My covenant which I made with them. 17 Then My anger will be aroused against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide My face from them, and they will be devoured. Many evils and troubles will befall them, so that they will say in that day, ‘Have not these evils come upon us because our Elohiym is not among us?’ 18 I will hide My face in that day because of the evil which they did, in that they turned to other elohiym. 19 Now, therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the children of Israel. 20 When I bring them to the land flowing with milk and honey, of which I swore to their fathers, and they have eaten and filled themselves and grown fat, then they will turn to other elohiym and serve them; and they will provoke Me and break My covenant. 21 Then it will happen, when many evils and troubles come upon them, that this song will testify against them as a witness; for it will not be forgotten in the mouths of their descendants, for I know the inclination of their behavior today, even before I bring them to the land of which I swore to give them.”
22 Therefore, Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it to the children of Israel.
23 Then He inaugurated Joshua the son of Nun, and said, “Be strong and of good courage; for you will bring the children of Israel into the land I swore to them, and I will be with you.”
24 So it was, when Moses completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, 25 that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH, saying, 26 “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH your Elohiym, that it may be there as a witness against you; 27 for I know your rebellion and your stiff neck. If today, while I am yet alive with you, you have been rebellious against JEHOVAH, then how much more after my death? 28 Gather to me the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to witness against them. 29 For I know that after my death you will become corrupt and turn aside from the way which I commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days, because you will do evil in the sight of JEHOVAH, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands.”
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
Theos – Supreme Divinity
Iesous – Jesus
God’s character:
Holy
Leader
Instructor
When you were in school, did you pay attention to your instructor? When you purchased something that needs to be assembled, did you read the instructions? Often people believe they don’t need instruction, they know what they need to do. Yet when it comes to executing what they were told, they fall short because they didn’t pay attention to the instructor or the instructions.
Moses told Israel, he was one hundred and twenty years old. JEHOVAH would gather him to their fathers soon. He had one last set of instructions to give Israel from Elohiym in which he told them they would turn away from JEHOVAH their Elohiym and follow the elohiym of the nations they went to dispossess.
JEHOVAH also inaugurated Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land and told him to have courage because He would not leave him or forsake him.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you committed to obey Him in everything He told you. Yet did you?
Every Christian has at least one Bible in their home, many have more than one. Where is your Bible? When was the last time you opened and read it? What about online Bibles? Do you read it online so you can know what it says?
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to Theos, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
You cannot rightly divide the Word of truth if you don’t read it. Your Bible is your instruction manual from Elohiym.
JEHOVAH told Moses what kind of people Israel would become after his death. They would turn away from Him and follow other elohiym. How many elohiym do you follow? What or who is number one in your life?
Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of Theos and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
What things will JEHOVAH add to you?
Mark 10:24 The disciples were astonished at His words. Iesous answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of Theos! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Theos.”
26 They were astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?”
27 Iesous looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with Theos; for with Theos everything is possible.”
28 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left everything and followed You.”
29 Iesous answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.
You receive everything when you follow Elohiym and do what He instructs you. How do you follow Elohiym?
Joshua 1:8 “This Book of the Law will not depart from your mouth, but you will meditate in it day and night, that you may observe and do according to everything written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
You will not have success in your life if you follow other elohiym. Only when you put Him first, read, study, and obey Him, will you find success.
Psalm 37:3 Trust in JEHOVAH, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in JEHOVAH, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.
6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in JEHOVAH and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret—it only causes harm.
Read the instruction manual. Don’t believe you know what it says as it lies on your shelves. Open JEHOVAH’S Word, and let His instructions guide you through life. Then you will find success through Him.
Let’s pray: Father, Your Word is precious to me. Let me never come to the place where I believe I know it all and don’t need to open Your Word to receive Your instructions for the day. May it always be a light to my path as You guide me through life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
