2 August - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good afternoon from HOT Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It's currently 88 F and feels like 91 F. The air has a hint of a breeze. It's been a good day. I'm so thankful my son's girlfriend took me shopping. When I said in the last post I had Mother Hubbard's cupboard, I did. When I need food, I don't pay attention too much to the prices. I need it, I get it. I know the food I eat, will be more expensive than the garbage processed food everyone loads their carts with. Before we left for the store, she asked me if it would be a short trip or long one. I told her I would use the large shopping cart today. She wanted the opportunity to get home and take a shower. It worked out perfect. I was headed for the checkout when I called her and she had just gotten out of the shower. So, the total came to $433.71. That's someone's car payment. I used my insurance Ucard and took off $174.01. Then I used my FoodShare card and took off another $228.75. I guess I haven't used it in a couple of months. That left me with $33.79 from my debit card. God is good and my fridge and freezer are full. Comfortably full. No more trying to figure out what to make for dinner or breakfast. She had a wagon and I had a cart, and it all fit in both, so one trip from the car to the apartment. I'm thankful I got my walk around the pond this morning before I went shopping. I had most of my steps and shopping got the rest. I know people thought I was out of my mind to go out walking. It's hotter now than it was when I went this morning. I'm thankful for payday that made everything possible. I only needed to pay the rent for September this morning. My Internet has a credit I can't figure out, and Energy Assistance took care of the utility. So, I'm a happy camper. I'm thankful for the time I spent with you today. It's good to know how you're faring in your part of the world. I see the high heat and humidity is still hanging on. Another six weeks and we'll be into Fall. I'm also thankful for the A/C. I don't run it often, but I turned it on this morning and it's still on. I have no plans to turn it off. Tomorrow will be even hotter. Okay, that's my day. Now to work on a book and play my games.
