As many of you know, I really enjoy reading books. Not on the computer or an e-book. Nope, a book that I can actually hold in my hands. I cozy up on the end of our couch and mentally travel to another world. This helps me deal with normal stress. This is an older story by Victoria Holt, that I've already read three time. I loved this book so much, I asked the librarian to order Mistress of Mellyn. I only read 20 pages yesterday, but today I'll really dig in:) It's a wonderful venture, into the TreMellyn's life in a gorgeous palace. It almost reminds me of Sound of Music, where the child is so naughty they have been through countless governesses. The new one, finally works out:) Alvean is both spoiled and neglected, at the same time. She acts terrible, to win her father's attention and his love Yet he spends a lot of time away from home, travelling and working. I do recommend this story, but it might not be your choice of books. I prefer to hold a book too compared to a tablet

@kobesbuddy I don't mind for this stuff. But a book is supposed to be a book.

Some people don't mind looking at a screen, I don't like it.

@kareng They have a book mobile, that delivers books each week. Patrons can put in an order, for any books they want to read.

The library here gives free books, when the story was printed many years ago. Or the author is older, in many cases they have passed away.

I too love reading books. I love reading from an actual book and not from an ebook or a device. I do not get that thrill or experience from the latter. The thrill of holding a book is something different. Plus, it is easier on the eyes as well. I love fiction , non-fiction and adventure mostly. These days, I do read only a book or two . Book reading has completely decreased due to lack of time and priorities. There was a time I used to read atleast 6- 12 books a year. Well, I have not visisted a library in years , Well, you continue to inspire other mylotters. Do share your insights as usual!

I don't read as much lately, but I'm getting back to it immediately. I know one lady, she read 100 books in 2024.

There's something magical about holding a book. I love the old books that have soft paper. The old time children's illustrations really captivate me.

And those children's books with life-like characters, they stimulate a child's creative abilities. Not to mention, make believe is an awful lot of fun! @sallypup

It's a wonderful story about a governess, who's hired in to take care of a spoiled little girl.
