I Found a Feather

I went outside to take the trash to the dumpster and found a feather. It was all dark gray and black but I picked it up and brought it into the house. Now, the bottom of the feather is turning white and fluffy. It is half-white now. Some people believe that finding a white feather symbolizes innocence, hope, and a new beginning. Some think it means that an angel is nearby or a deceased loved one is thinking of them. Did you ever find a white feather? What did it mean to you?

@akalinus Perhaps all in a cat's tummy.

@TheHorse If so, he left a feather. Maybe he was saving it for dessert.

When I lived in Latvia I used to collect feathers. I would often find all kinds of bird feathers and at one time had a whole vase full of feathers. My mind was not working when I left Latvia and now I wish I had also packed those feathers,

@akalinus regular sized feathers and after my husband passed I got home from the store one day to find four feathers by my garden gate as a message that he had been there,

@RasmaSandra He must be thinking of you. Someday, you will meet again. The feathers are reminders.

Were they big or little feathers? That is interesting. I'm sorry you had to leave them. We all lose stuff on the highway of life.

My mother raised birds, and had a bird feeder and bird bath in the front yard. Found many feathers, none of them white that I can recall.

What kind of birds did she raise? My mom raised parakeets for a while. She sold the babies when they were old enough. I had to scrape all the goo from the roosts. Lucky me.

I have found lots of feathers over the years but have never attached any special meanings to them.

If you think about it, a bird is minus a feather. Giving symbolic values to things like feathers, coins, dragonflies, and butterflies is more meaningful.

Nope, I've never found a white feather. I think this means to me, there's a bird that flew over and it's now shy one feather!

That could be but it is more fun to think otherwise.

I've never heard of any feather turning colors or anything about what it represents, but if any of it is true than you have good things coming to you, I would put it in a special place & keep it safe.

It is in my desk drawer. If we leave anything small out at night, the cat Alex plays with it. Sometimes, we never see the item again. I learned to lock everything up against him. He has plenty of toys he loves to play with but he likes ours better.

@2ndchances24 The cats get away with a lot because they are so darn cute and adorable. They look at you with big innocent eyes that say, "Who, me?

Many times.It did not mean to me anything auspicious or special.I had read somewhere if you find a black feather of a completely black crow who lives in the hills; and you keep it in your wallet or cash box;you will never have lack of money. But even after finding that feather we had to live in penury for years.
