It'll Be on the Roof

I have never been a golfer. It was just never my thing, although I have done it a few times just for fun. But even then, what I do I'd never in a million years call actual golfing. It's more akin to just aimlessly whacking at balls on a giant piece of acreage. Yes, "balls" was made plural on purpose. At the Galesburg KOA campground one of the activities they offer to guests is 9-hole disc golf. We have no idea what we are doing, just choose a disc each and throw them toward the baskets. It's still fun, we make up our own rules, and we certainly won't be going pro anytime soon. In any event, there were three of us and we were only able to return two of the discs. Shooting for the 8th hole I gave my disc a nice throw only to have it go slightly in the wrong direction for me and return the "tink, tink, clack" sound of it hitting the metal roof of the nearby maintenance shed. "You will find the 3rd disc on the roof of this building," is the only appropriate caption for this picture. We still had fun, and we had a good laugh about that. It would have been funny had I been able to get a shot of the KOA grounds guy climbing a ladder to retrieve the lost disc. Oh well, maybe next time.

I don't understand golf. But good to hear that you enjoyed yourself. My dear father used to golf.

To be fair, I don't understand golf any better than I understand disc golf.

I've never played disc golf; and I suck at putt putt. Glad you had a good time. Have a great day.

The thing about putt putt is I always get this wild-eyed sensation that comes over me, and I just want to whack the hell out of the ball. lol

Disc golf is popular here. When I first saw the baskets at a local park I thought, "What on earth..." but then someone explained what they were for. Once a guy went in the kind of gross lake at the park to retrieve one of those discs. My mother and I went "Eew." but later on I found out how expensive those things are. Yeah, I would have gone in the gross lake too if I'd have lost one of those things.

I guess if I really knew how to actually play it, it could be a lot of fun. I don't even do regular golf, though. lol

I've never heard of this. Mini golf is about my limit.

I am not sure if it's a totally new thing, but it's been around for at least 10 years that I can recall. It's gotten more popular recently.
