Fact Checking?

In ancient days, one did research using hard copy. Going to an archive, library, opening an encyclopedia. What one read was unchangeable unless updated. Unlike today Today, people go on the Internet to verify information. Often they flock to Wikipedia. where Information is constantly changed to match this moment's prejudice. As stated in Nineteen Eighty Four; Who controls the present controls the Past. Hence what you read yesterday is twisted today. This is to cause you to doubt your perceptions. This is deliberate. This change of facts and slant is how the public is controlled. It was exposed in Nineteen Eighty Four, it is being done now on Wikipedia and numerous other sites.

The problem with Wikipedia is that it is not a credible source of information because ANYONE can go in there and create content or change it. So lunatics can go in there and write something that is totally incorrect.

exactly. Yet, people believe it. Further, very often the 'references' they use are frauds

I liked the old way. Things seemed to be there coming from authentic sources. Now, with so much available online, we don't know which one is from authentic source.

@jaylar You have said it right. I am always trying to do so. All these updates and news etc coming from various sources are some biasing and many might be fake to just brainwash.

you have to be very cautious not to be dragged into a hoax or swallow fabrications. one has to engage their own intellect

@arunima25 they are... it is deliberate. Truth is often discarded, fallacies promulgated and people are led like sheep.

My college professors never let us use Wikipedia as a source due to its bias and unreliable information.

Exactly... and that is world wide. The first words the Professor says is that Wikipedia is NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE.

In many cases things are written with the person's perspective in mind. They cite facts they want to support their perspectives. And write things that lead you in their direction.
