Most of us are living to do a balance between living in present and planning for a better future.
Living for today allow one to experience the moments with intensity and full energy and without thinking of consequences. There is less stress and less thoughts on what lies ahead of us.
Focussing on future can lead to greater security and fulfilment in the long run. However , it might be at the cost of sacrificing current enjoyments.
Question is how do we balance both these approaches so that we can enjoy the present and also have a brighter and safer future?

You don't. Focus on making each day the best it can be. Don't punish yourself for a bad day. Learn to be thankful for what you do have. Do that, and the future will take care of itself.
