What do you accomplish by making your bed everyday ?

I was arguing with my friend on the importance of making our bed every day. It is a simple habit and does not take much time. It brings a sense of accomplishment to start the day. It brings in a feeling of tidiness and everything put in order. It also makes the bedroom more inviting and neat. It has always boosted my confidence and has helped to start the day with discipline and routine. Perhaps this small daily habit helps in bringing positive changes in me , which I may or may not have noticed. At the same time, my friend argued that it is an unnecessary chore. It never helps in productivity and the time although small can be used for other productive things. The sense of cleanliness is also limited according to him. What do you think about making your bed everyday-does it help you in other areas of life?

I rarely make my bed. Usually, only when I change the sheets. I don't see the purpose in it. Never did.

I like to keep my place of sleep as clean as possible. Making the bed is essentially closing up the bed - it not only keeps the inside clean, but make the rest of the room look tidy too. It doesn't even take 5 minutes. When I come home, I don't want to see a messy looking room . . . that makes me more tired than I have to be.

Cleanliness is a great point to have the bed ready when we wake up in the morning . Thanks for sharing!

My mother fussing at me saying I should do it. Right now I just have sheets and a blanket on the bed because it's so hot. I don't have to make the bed right now.

I am a tidy sleeper - no tossing and turning. So usually a tweak here and there is enough to make my bed look fresh and made up.

Fixing my bed every morning has become second nature to me. Its something my mom instilled in us from when I was a kid. So it's something I've been doing ever since I learned how to make a bed. So now it’s just part of my routine - just something I've always done without thought nor reason.

I rarely make my bed in the mornings, I don't use a bedspread, My electric blanket is my topping. So when I come back to the bedroom during the day, I just lift the covers up over the pillows and go. I always heard that you should never make the bed first thing in the morning, as it doesn't have time to dry from use the night before. Not sure how true that is, but it made my life easier. LOL Not a morning person at ALL..but most of my jobs were day shift and EARLY, so the least I had to do the better. Not saying that I NEVER made my bed,,just not on work days.

It does makes sense to make the bed later than first thing in morning in your case. Thanks for sharing!
