I am Getting Scammed Some More

Have any of you gotten one of these? I got a letter from a place called Undue Medical Debt about a week ago. It said it was relieving me of a medical debt from one of the local hospitals here. It was from 2016. The only thing I can remember from that time was when I wrenched my shoulder. I never received a bill for the hospital or the ambulance. I just assumed my insurance paid for it. The letter says that the cancellation of the bill is a no-strings-attached gift. That the funds for this are donated by supporters and that I can show this letter as proof that the bill has been paid. I think this is rather weird and wonder if it is some form of scam and fraud coming later down the road. Then today I got another phone call from a supposed law firm seeking money on behalf of a loan institution that I did legitimately get a loan through but it was back in like 2005 or so. I got a similar call about six months ago and paid it because I knew I did owe one. Then about 2-3 months ago I got another call and realized they were scamming me. Now today I get another one. I told them the history of the bill and that they would need to send me some kind of information for me to look into it further. The letter was just weird. If I was sure it was legit I would write them a thank you letter but not knowing for sure I won't do anything until I hear more. The phone call brought on anxiety and I am now feeling better. It makes me mad more than anything. Have any of you received a letter like the one I got? When I Google it I see that it is a legitimate company created by former debt collection executives that goes around the country buying up medical debt and erasing it forever. So it sounds legit but still I wonder.

But why one from 8 years ago that wasn't a problem?

I would be suspicious. Call the hospital and check to see if you have a balance with them. Good luck. Have a good day.

Call the hospital's business office, records department and find out if there's any outstanding debt. They will tell you if your insurance paid it or not. However, don't interact directly with the company. Scammers often photo shop ligit companies titles, headers, logos etc and bulk mail to random people hoping someone will bite.

Well, that is the common sense thing to do, isn't it? I don't want the news. I know about the photo shop business and I don't want to interact with them. I just wondered if anyone else had gotten a letter like this.
