After finally getting back to full staff we are now on a three day weekend. This next Monday is labor day in the US. Celebrating all people who work, they say, but also reminder that for fair working conditions we had to have unions.
We went shopping immediately after work yesterday, but could not get what we wanted, so we went to a different town, and got part of what we wanted.
Among things that we wanted were some pavers to put under a planter that I have. The planter is unique in that it is made from an old (late 1940's, early 1950's) hot water heater. My dad made it or had it made before I can even remember. It has always been in our family. When my sister moved to an apartment, it moved to my yard. It becomes a challenge to mow around, so I got some concrete pavers to make it a little easier. They should raise it up a bit.
I also bought a couple of hardy mums. Maybe later I will get busy in my yard.
In addition I got a package of nitrile chore gloves.
Bob and I are discussing making a day of it tomorrow after church. Maybe going to Emporia, where there is a lovely free zoo.
Happy last day of August to you all.

Hope you get to the zoo. It's the first of September here already and Father's Day for our country.
