He was a man who served as the U.S. representative for New York's 3rd congressional district. He was expelled after only being a rep from January to December 2022. The news media began reporting about his many lies just six weeks after he had been elected. He lied about nearly everything on his resume. His schooling, his family, his experience-- all of it. Lies. He even started a GoFundMe account for a man whose dog was very sick. He rose about $3,000 and absconded with it. He told people his mother was a Holocaust survivor among other lies. He was guilty of illegal use of campaign funds, identity theft, credit card fraud, and wire fraud. He has recently pleaded guilty to two felonies. He will be sentenced on February 7, 2025. He could do as many as 22 years but has waived his right to appeal any sentences less than 95 months(about 8 years) all in a plea deal he made with federal prosecutors. He has a mandatory of two years and there is an estimated sentencing range of between 6-8 years.
