Rachel and Rob Schmela who reside in Aspen Colorado are counting their blessings that their son Evan was eating kettle corn on Saturday afternoon on August 31 when a black bear came within a foot of attacking Evan from behind when the bear saw his or her chance to have a snack.
Rob and his brother knew what to do to keep the bear away from harming Even by making noise in an effort to scare the bear away.
The bear did flee the backyard quickly and spare Evan from being hurt. The good news is that no one was hurt in the incident in Aspen.
What amazed the Schmela family is that bears are known for being in their area at night. It was the first time a bear visited them during daytime hours.

Maybe, they should just have thrown him a corn, then hightailed it out of there quickly.

That would be a good idea to get rid of the bear safely.
