Writing Woes and Flops

I entered myself into a writing contest a while back. It was supposed to start at noon today and last 24 hours. They would announce the subject and you would write a story about the subject. I waited all day checking the email for the start. It never came.
Also, I am having trouble getting started with hub pages. I am doing what the tutorial says but it is not working for me. I had similar trouble when I tried a free trial of Scrivener. I know I am technologically challenged.
Maybe I should give up writing. Do you ever have trouble with technology?

I would not give up on writing if i'm having technocal issues. I would work through the problem. If you're having trouble writing on Hub pages, try somewhere else. Or write your articals in another location, such as a document on your computer and copy and paste.

@akalinus I have to pick and choose what to correct and what to ignore. If it's a word I know I'm spelling correctly and use a lot (such as a character's name) then I'll tell it to ignore all instances or add it. But, yes. There might be a way in docs to change the tone of writing so that it doesn't count every word we'd usually use as a mistake, but I haven't found it yet. Personally I use word or pages if I need a word processor. It's much easier on the eyes.

@kaylachan What is Pages? Where is it and is it something you pay for?

@kaylachan Mine drives me absolutely nuts. It thinks I am writing a research paper for a degree when I am just having a conversation. People don't talk like they are reading a formal manuscript. Like right now, they don't want me to use the word absolutely. Crazy!

I don't think you should give up writing is you really enjoy it, Try out free Wordpress and make up a blog, Choose what you want to write about and see how that works for you, You share your writing on social sites and see how you can build up a following, Won't get you money but is good practice and you can see if people like what you're offering,

I still say talk to @porwest. I doubt HubPages is the same as when I wrote for them years ago. I didn't find anything confusing or hard about the site; so I'm sure they must have changed something. Good luck. Have a good day. P.S. Don't give up on your writing.

I don't know what happened to the contest. I remember all the things the editor said not to do. It was a riot. He/she said that people often name the main character Angela. He said don't do that. Also said that people write about writers who can't think of a story to write. He said don't do that either.
I signed up and was ready to write but I never got the email. Disappointing at best.

It is my dream to enter a writing contest back in school but I never had the confidence, and I always think that I don't have the right skills for it. You are so fortunate to join it! Do you always join a writing contest? How does it feels? And how do you compete? Do you guys create story impromtu? I have no idea. God bless the works of your hands. Have a great day.

@Shivram59 You sound busy and successful. You might not need to write for hub pages.

Technology CAN be daunting and frustrating at times. But one day you finally get the hang of it. I can try to help as much as possible. But it is always harder to do it when you're not there to directly point things out and see what you are doing or not doing.

I know what you mean. I try to look things up that I don't understand or don't work. The instructions are a mystery. They say to press the blank button but the blank button is not there. Surprise! I don't know if they post fake information for the fun of it or what. I also learn by watching YouTube tutorials. Some are good and some are puzzling.
