A Barbie Phone?

Barbie phone

I saw this advertised and displayed and being sold at an electronic shop here. It's a pink phone that is labelled Barbie Phone. I'm not sure if it's an advertising gimmick or just a regular phone that is pink. It's not cheap, but I'm sure hundreds of little girls will now pester their parents to buy it. Would you buy one?

It looks like a real phone and its price also looks like a real phone. I am not going to buy it. Besides its interesting color, all I care about is the storage, ROM, brand etc. A fancy look phone won't be attractive to me much.

It's definitely a real phone but has only basic features.

I wouldn't buy one. I'm sure they will be popular. Have a good day.

Uh, no way. I’m not falling for a gimmick, and I’m definitely not a Barbie fan.

I was just concerned if my daughter would grab one as we left the store!

It's not uncommon for brands to partner with phone companies to appeal to the market. While barbie dolls and such continue to sell well, phones and other eletronics are getting into the hands of children younger and younger. And, if you're here in the U.S. it mi might be a matter of safety. But I suspect this is a partnership between Metel (owners of Barbie) and whatever phone manufucture that is to put a top dollar price on a phone, just to make extra bank.

@pitstop Several years ago, Disney tried to do the same thing, going as far as creating their own mobile network. It didn't last because technology evolved faster than they did.

No. We don't like pink especially in phones.

I like the Barbie character but not that much to pay a Barbie phone for the price they want. .

I found it overpriced for a phone with those features.

@pitstop Yes since the Barbie customers some of them are willing to pay a high price to but Barbie merchandise.

It would depend on the price. It sounds a bit like it's a Barbie phone simply because it is pink.

It's 199 Australian dollars. Not very cheap at all
