These days, I see most people are on smartphones and spend lot of time texting. However, I am unable to understand why a simple call cannot be done in most cases. In any case, the effort would be less when it comes to call compared to typing on phone.
Text messages does allow user to respond at their own pace to communication without much pressure most times. Thoughtful or caring texts can also be exchanged. However, text may not have that emotional depth compared to verbal conversations.
However, when you receive a phone call, you feel it to be more personal and intimate. The tone, inflection can definitely add layers of emotion, something text messages are not capable of. Calls are immediate and lead to deeper connections and understanding compared to texting.
So according to you, what is more gratifying: receiving a text or receiving a call?

Unless it is a close family member, I prefer getting a text. Some people talk to me so long I get a migraine from their chatter. I don’t like being on the phone for long periods of time. Thankfully, my friends, for the most part, prefer texting too.

It depends... if you are working it is better to have a messaging conversation for security purposes and not letting the conversation slip or misunderstood by your colleagues.
While phone calls should be done when you are in a hurry to get feedback from work.
calling a loved ones is sweet specially taking time for video calls, and on busy days, it is okay and sweet to received and replying to a daily messages from loved ones.

Nowadays wherein online fraud is prevalent. You're right teceiving a call is a bit interacting. However, sometimes it's unwelcome especially when you’re busy. Text messaging is good for it coukd be read and replied later.

A voice message, the best of both worlds.
I prefer receiving a text because I might be too busy for a call. Gratification depends on the content, one can always add emojis to convey some emotion... even if it will never be the same as a call.
