Bela Lugosi did not find the part of Dracula new to him back in 1931. He had played the role on Broadway in 1927. This first adaption of Bram Stoker's novel was the ultimate screen image of a vampire for decades to come. Lugosi was nearing 50 when he did Dracula. He brought an exotic flare to the roll. His Hungarian accent and threatening delivery made him the best in my book. He and Gary Oldman have done two of the best portrayals of this character I think that I have seen to date. Have you seen the old silent movie? That's really cool. Nosferatu (1922). Have a good weekend.
