I Watched a Sad Doc Lastnight

I won't be on long. I'm not feeling well. But, I wanted to post about this documentary I watched last night. It was about Brittany Spears. I had been curious and heard a lot about what went on with her but hadn't watched anything on the subject until last night. She was very popular in the early 2000s. She had married and had two kids. The marriage didn't last and at one point the kids were taken from her. Someone thought she was irresponsible with her finances, so they created a conservatorship, in which her estranged father became her(yes, legally she lost her identity and he became her on paper, etc.), and a lawyer oversaw the proceedings. One geriatric psychiatrist who was named in the paperwork on the case said in an interview that he had never even met her. So her father and this lawyer made millions off her and she got a $ 8,000-a-month allowance. Yet she did ALL the work. She wrote the songs, she wrote the choreography, she taught the dancers, and she did all the performing. She toured all over the world. Yet she was deemed irresponsible and unable to take care of her own affairs. She tried twice to get her father taken off the conservatorship but the judge wouldn't even listen to her. She was nobody and was unable to choose yet she did all the work and all the performing. I hope they have changed the laws now and don't let family members be the conservators in such cases. She finally was able to dissolve the conservatorship and got her kids on a 50/50 basis. How sad. This shouldn't happen to anyone. Take care and I hope to be back tomorrow.

I agree with you since Brittney is from Kentwood Louisiana which is near New Orleans and she was very popular in that market when she became famous.

@Deepizzaguy .......And to have it work like that where no judge would listen to her. Terrible.

She didn't have much of a chance. Sorry, you aren't feeling well. I am really beginning to wonder. Every few days I get sick.

This is certainly a very sad story. Some people really abuse others - in all sorts of ways - but for a father to do it is just awful.

that is sad. i liked her when i was little. i haven't seen the documentary, but i've seen posts on the internet about it. all that explains her "unusual behavior" back then, like when she shaved her head and stuff.

Conservatorship is a scary thing. I hope the laws have changed.
