Years ago, a friend of mine was involved in politics. A particular columnist wrote a rather nasty piece about her.
At the office everyone was talking about what she should do and say, and no one was listening to me.
The phone rang and I grabbed it. It was a reporter wanting the politicians response to the columnist's post.
"Oh, I'm sorry but the politician doesn't read columnist."
That ended the whole possible drama.
If I was running against Trump I would ignore his tongue pulling.
I would go on with saying what I wanted to say and indirectly making a comment... for example... I would make a speech about the value of some immigrants and do a btw mention on Puerto Rico.
If asked for my response on what Trump said I'd reply...."I'm too busy focusing on...(put in my various positions) to ...."
You get the idea.

Trump didn't say Puerta Rico was an island of garbage...a comedian that his campaign people hired said it. But then Biden called MAGA supporters Garbage. I thought Deplorables was bad...but Garbage? And Yes Biden really DID say that...I saw and heard him say it. So I guess I am a Nazi, Deplorable, piece of Garbage. My Presidnt Said So!

@xander6464 LOL...Back a few years ago Puerta Rico had a Garbage problem. Their landfills were FULL. Could not get rid of the garbage on the island, but since then they HAVE cleaned it up. But Trump did not say Puerta Rico was an Island of Garbage, and He had no say in the entertainment at the rally, his campaign hired the comedian...who we have found out was a comedian that spews jokes about Blacks, Whites, Chinese, Medican..etc etc. That is how he makes his living putting down people. Really..it is really sad that you have so much hate for your fellow Americans, as once this election is over we all still have to live together. Really Sad.

@xander6464 I think that Trump expected the security forces to open fire and kill them, creating martyrs whose blood he could bathe in... tainting Biden's election.
But for some reason the security backed off and let the gang of idiots invade the Capitol.

@xander6464 he called my country a shi*hole. He has attacked and insulted, and in truth, his supporters are garbage they attacked their own seat of government.
