Weighed Down Branches

This past summer, our plum trees produced very well. It is the best harvest we have had with them. They were so full the branches were weighed down. I am wondering what this means for their production this coming summer. We have four plum trees, so we gave a lot to family and friends and still had enough to freeze. I think I may try canning them next year. What I would love is to have that many well-producing lemon and apple trees.

We just planted two plum trees this past spring. I can't wait for them to produce!

Treat them delicately. Make sure the trunk and branches do not get severe bruises of cuts. When they are damaged, it attracts a pest that attacks the tree. Those pests are hard to get rid of.

@gnatsmom Yes, the last part of the summer was brutal with no rain for over 30 days so we had to make sure they got water. Hoping the winter in on the mild side!

Plum trees, how cool! Growing up, we had a peach tree, but I was a big plum fan.

Do you make plum jelly? It's called plum jam here. My Mum used to make a lot of it in her day.

@gnatsmom It's often sold at church bazaars, fund-raising days, etc.

I don't because I don't like jelly. None of the grandkids like it. My husband is the only one who eats jelly, so I am thinking of making some.
