11/20/24 - Update On My Husband

I called last night and told a nurse that I hadn't spoken to my husband in a couple of days and would she please tell him to call me. She took her cordless phone in to him instead. He appreciated my call and said that he hasn't been feeling well. He doesn't know if it's the food or if it's something else. He's also been very hot in the room; and his roommate doesn't want the heat turned down. The staff is aware that he isn't feeling well.
I mentioned again about sending him back to the other facility; but he balked at that, saying that it might be too much of a change for him. I don't want to make him uncomfortable; so I will back off for now. He said he wanted to take a nap; so we ended the call.
I told you I had some good news. I am self-publishing a picture book done in rhyme that I wrote many years ago. I tried to get the book published the traditional way; but the furthest I got was a second reading. I spoke to my husband about it; and he surprised me by saying I could go ahead. He knows this is something I have wanted for decades; and he said that since we are spending so much money on him, that I should spend some money on myself. The process should take about 6 months; and my book will be featured at a book fair, at Barnes and Noble, Amazon and an international book list.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

Yay, that's great! It sounds like you are accomplishing a lifelong dream. I wrote a couple of ebooks, one was for a client on a writing site, and the other I wrote myself. It is on Amazon. Sadly, it only sold maybe 31 copies. I got one royalty check and that was it.

@LindaOHio Really? You couldn't get your friends and relatives onboard? You know alot of people between mylot and FB and some offline too. 98 percent of those who bought mine were people I knew in some capacity.

@snowy22315 I wouldn't want to impose on my friends and relatives. Besides, the book needed illustrations...it was a picture book.

I tried Amazon; but without illustrations it only sold 2 books. This publishing company is doing the illustrations for me.

Selling the book could even help you pay for the extra money you spend on your husband. Let us hope it works. Fingers crossed.

@LindaOHio I hope you can too, make a profit that is. Selling books is a tough business, though.

@porwest Right now I'm trying to figure out how to open up their questionnaire in Word, make changes and save it. For some reason, it doesn't want to save the input I made. Grrrrrr.

@LindaOHio Even still, it might be a really good way to take your mind off of things a bit. That could be helpful. Sometimes we need distractions.

@LindaOHio Could be. It could simply because he's been inside for months. He's been outsideside a few times since when....? and that's been between transports home, the hospital, and the different rehab centers. It takes it's toll. You don't realize how important little things like that are. If you want to, you can step out your front door for a few minutes. He can't.

@Marilynda1225 He said he really doesn't want to have a big change right now. I wonder if he's aware of his confusion.

@porwest Yup. It's not cheap. I paid $995 then 10 payments of $349. They won't charge any royalties until I get my original investment back. It's more expensive because they are doing the illustrations.

That is awesome news about your book! I'm so glad you found a way to do it! When will it be finished, do you think?
I hope your husband is not coming down with something! A room too warm would be rather uncomfortable though! I hope they can find a happy medium for he thermostat!

I thought I would be seeing him on Sunday; but his cousin's car needs a new belt I think. The book should be done in 6 months.

That would be great to publish that book. Are you going to do it on Amazon or some other way. But I agree, time to put some money to work for something enjoyable and rewarding. Besides, those hounds will just suck you dry anyway, might be a good idea to have less available for them to suck.

We're bleeding so much money, what does a little more matter? It's something I've wanted to do for over 20 years. I want it published before I die. I probably will donate a copy to the local library.
