There is no limit on the number of varieites that exist when it comes to Orchids.
Orchids are normally found in jungles clinging to trees. The orchid enthusiast will travel far and wide collecting different species and introduce them t orchid lovers.
I have not succeeded in growing orchids They need a particular climate, particular soil and particular watering method. Nietther too much sun nor too little of it can destroy your orchids
Hope one day I will succeed in growing them.

My friend had them too. They got them all the way from Singapore. Orchids are the National flower of Singapore

@allknowing - I have no idea from where my orchids came. My Mom arranged the church decoration and the bouquet with her florist. I think that they come from The Netherlands.

I remember visiting an Orchid garden in Gangtok, Sikkim. I loved Sikkim! Its been so many years since I last visited Sikkim. I love the mountains!

My mother has been successful with growing orchids but it took her a while. It makes sense they're a difficult species as they'd rather live on trees than inside vases. The vase has to be transparent for the sun to reach the roots and yes, they come with their unique watering method.
