Hey Good Lookin' - What Cha' Got Cooking?

I put on a big pot of homemade Chili this evening and it smells so good. I'm going to let it cook down for about 45 more minutes and then dig in. I told my husband that if he wants cornbread to go with it, then he is in charge of making it. That will also give the cornbread time to bake. I told him that I did my part, I remembered the cornbread. We both usually forget, so it's teamwork on this effort tonight. P.S. Mine looks much better than the one in the photo! What are you cooking or what did you have for dinner tonight? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

We really love chili, and have it a lot. Warms us up on a cold day. I love cornbread with it, too.

@MarieCoyle Same here. Although, I think my hubby's days are numbered eating it. He has been getting major acid reflux with his prescription medicine taken, so I'm thinking he will be backing off of it in the future.

Still recovering from a stomach bug. I will eat Progresso chicken and wild rice soup. Chili sounds delicious, though.

Oh, homemade chili ! I make my daughter do the cornbread - yah, teamwork makes it all go faster too. I think we're going to do meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy!

Sounds like a great dinner, I made an odd combination, Packaged gravy in my electric skillet, added tater tots, and a pork patty and swirled through two eggs, I was good,

I’m not a fan of cornbread so I would have skipped baking that too. It’s been probably a year or more since I had chili.

I don't like it when it is very dry. Some like it and prefer it that way. My husband doesn't seem to mind. He will eat it either way. So he can eat this batch. I was ready to treat the chickens to it!

I love making, and eating chili. It warms you up and it is a dish that tastes great when reheated. My husband got a small black forest ham out for supper tonight. I woke early and had to lie down for a while this morning, so he is in charge of supper.

@Juliaacv That sounds delicious and glad you snagged a few when the hams were on sale! With the price of groceries right now, that is the thing to do!

@kareng It was nice, he is such a thoughtful person. I like having some sliced ham in the fridge when our regular day schedules are off because of the holidays. It is handy to make a wrap for a lunch meal, especially if you are short on time. And that ham tasted so delicious. I'm glad that I stocked up on them when they went on sale last week, as I have 3 more just like it in the deep freezer.

@LindaOHio I used to not drink it very much at all. But then got to thinking about bone density and how we lose it as we age, after my doctor sent me for a bone density scan years ago.

So far this season I made one batch of chili, but very soon we are going to be due for another, and this post makes me want to make one very soon. For dinner we just had taco salad bowls. Yummy stuff.

@porwest If my hubby could eat salads, we would have that for lunches and dinners here. He will do taco's but with no lettuce or very little. Pretty sure he has colitis, as his mother did. He has all the right symptoms. So he avoids certain foods and is okay. One slip up and he is miserable for several days.

Mine is not because we both have acid reflux. I don't know why it is getting to him all of a sudden. It may be the addition of the tomato sauce and too much of the combo. I also used a different brand of chili powder, which also could be the case. They did not have the brand I usually buy. Who knows! You can make it as spicy or non-spicy as you want.

Chili is always good in winter, but if I had my kitchen together like I was hoping to have I would have made some ham stew & a big roast to eat on for the week BUT since I don't, I'm not cooking anything this year he will I guess or maybe not. As far as what I had for dinner ? I had potatoes & onions with 2 fried eggs & 4 slices of apple butter toast & crashed a few hours.

@kareng Potatoes aren't good for me cause of the starch but I don't eat them all the time, since I lost my gallbladder last year & went through a trauma of health issues I have to really watch what & how much I eat.
