Another day, another dollar

Ever since we had to cope with the pandemic, our special education co op has paid us our wages when school was unexpectedly cancelled.
Expensive, but it is cheaper than having to find all new staff if we all quit.
With that being said, tomorrow is another snow day.
The only real work I have done today is to take all the trash out. Our trash pick up has been postponed due to weather as well. I may drag the can to the road in a bit.
I have a wonderful pot of chili in my slow cooker as well. We are eating good. I could get used to this.

Mmm. Chili sounds good. Those trash people could really cause some health issues after the trash has not been left for a while. Pee-oo.

@celticeagle It would be my luck they would get stuck right in front of my house. They did not, and I am glad.

They only put the route off for one day. They got it today. I would not want them to go off the road or get stuck.

Good that you're still getting paid. Bad weather sucks.

If I have what I need and I do not need to be out in it, I do not mind it too much.

@kaylachan Appointments are problematic for us right now as we only have one car dug out.

I'm glad they pay you when school closes unexpectedly.
Chili sounds delicious, too.
I bagged up the kitchen trash and swept the kitchen floor but that's all the work I've done today. I did get lost down an incel rabbit hole by accident. (Their stuff starts off sounding so sane and then it gets insane very quickly!) Pretty laughed at my surprise.

Yes, I tend to wander the internet more than I work. I could get used to it, though.

@DaddyEvil I cannot sit still for movies right now. Bob watches a lot on Amazon, but I will keep you in mind when I do want to sit still and watch something.

@GardenGerty I've also started watching movies that I didn't think I'd be interested in a few years ago. Some of them are forgettable but some are actually good.
If you need a good free movie site, I can recommend the one I've been using.

That's pretty cool. I was out of work for a long time when both the College and my friend's preschool shut down. I had to dip into my retirement savings to survive. Unemployment was broken here, and my "stimulus checks" were stolen.

@GardenGerty It was the only time I can say "who was President" really affected my life.

There are so many reasons I would like to find a work from home job, but I also still take a lot of pride in my skills at my job and it will be bittersweet when I retire.

Yes, this is the perfect weather for it. I actually used up several commodity items my older sister had given me. I even used canned beef and canned pork (I made a lot of it). We eat it in so many ways. I think I still have a couple of quarts to put into the freezer for another time.

Yes, without it coming out of my PTO. I do have enough days I could have taken them, and if I cannot get out of my driveway when school is back in session tomorrow I will have to do that. That used to be how we had to do it always.

I enjoy staying home on "snow days." I am going to try a great escape tomorrow though.

No, the district cancelled school. Conditions are still too dangerous.

I would have used some PTO to get paid if they had not decided that they were paying us. I had rather save it for other things, though.

In the past teacher's aides got paid, they were district employees, and paraprofessionals did not because we are special education cooperative employees. If we are not working with students the state does not pay the co op. It was a big deal when they started budgeting for us as well.
