What A Disgrace

Joe Biden's farewell address was a mumbling disaster in the worst way, and frankly, a very undignified way to leave office. What he did was essentially deny why they lost, touting a highly successful presidency that only exists in his imagination, lied about accomplishments that never happened, made bold (and false) statements regarding the incoming administration, and scolded the American people for the way they voted. There was no affirmation of mistakes. There were no well wishes for the American people and for the new administration. There was no sense of hope offered. It was all gloom and doom. There were no apologies made for dead soldiers left behind in Afghanistan or how his economic policies devastated hard working families. This was not a farewell address. This was a defiant address that said no more than, "Eff you and good luck." What a disgrace.

@porwest I saw about 5 minutes of it before it was cut off. I guess the speech was later than originally planned because I had many minutes of watching a CNN panel speaking about what they expected from it. I'm sure I can find it on YouTube later though.

I hope you get a chance to view it and offer an honest response to it. As I have said many times, I wish no ill will toward President Biden. My issues with him are no more than differences on policy. I think most Americans, including those who voted for him or would have otherwise voted for Harris, should be able to see that this farewell address was unbecoming of a sitting president passing the baton. One could only walk away from this address with a sense of dread and loss, not of hope and progress. To be fair, I am used to the Democrat party being divisive, separating people into classes and groups, and fostering a sense of non-unity, so it's really no surprise. I am used to them speaking in terms of what's wrong in America as opposed to what is right and good about it. But this could have been better. This SHOULD have left the American people with a sense of hope and encouragement. It did none of that.

What a joke. His presidency is a legacy of disaster and of being the worst president ever.

I was so happy to see Carter live long enough to finally get to pass the torch. Biden was a disaster is the only correct summation here.

I think it’s funny that he cried about an oligarchy. Where has he been, we’ve had that for decades! Half the Congress members are millionaires, Both parties. Talk about nothing new?! Quitcher b1tchin, Joe.

You bring up an interesting point about that. In fact, contrary to popular belief, the Democrats are the richest members of Congress. The total far outweighs Republicans. So much for the Republicans being the "party of the rich." On top of that, who were one of the people Biden awarded a Medal of Freedom to just weeks before making his oligarch statement? George Soros. A multi-billionaire who has greatly influenced policy for decades. I guess you are only an oligarch if you are supporting Democrat causes. Oddy enough, on top of THAT, while Musk is a conservative (these days anyway), Bernie Sanders cited Bezos and Zuckerberg in a recent Senate confirmation hearing to confirm Bessent as Treasury Secretary as "oligarchs." Yet both Zuckerberg and Bezos are Democrats. It's enough to make the head spin.

Are you talking about Biden or Trump? I am glad that we have a peace deal in the Middle East, that I have made back most of the money that I lost under Trump, that violent crime is down, that unemployment is down, and that my retirement portfolios are at all-time highs. I am actually considering buying some properties. I think Biden may go down as one of the best presidents in US history. But I worry about Trump. Could he screw things up yet again?

@just4him How is YOUR retirement portfolio? I was able to secure BOTH toilet paper and paper towel under Biden. I am glad violent crime is down even if it's still way too high for my tastes. I am glad to be working again. Trump was the first President ever to negatively affect my life at ground zero.

@TheHorse Best? I'm choking on my supper. We will need to agree to disagree. If there was ever a putz in office, it is Biden.

And we may have to deal with him for four years. Biden may go down as one of the best presidents in US history. But I may not live long enough to see how he is remembered.

You hate to say it, but it's the only logical conclusion. His message should have been welcoming and positive, with hope for the American people. It was none of that.

What did you expect him to say ? he / they knew what they did wasn't right & that was the whole agenda of having him in office cause they knew it was going to be a disaster in the 1st place.

Biden brought us out of the misery that Trump created. Hey, do you know which myLotter it was who read RFK Jr.'s book? She said it was a great read. I admit to not having read it yet. I want to ask what he thinks of vaccinations that have been around for a long time, like Polio and measles.

I have not seen this one yet. But his speech about the deal he struck in the Middle East was brilliant. I had not heard him be so clear and articulate in years. Here's a funny question: Do you Think Trump would try to claim partial credit for the peace deal? OK, I am laughing. But I would NOT put it past him.

Nice summation. The speech was total BS. Do the Dems ever accept responsibility for anything they do wrong. Americans voted the way they did because the country was a disaster. They remembered how much better things were under Trump and rejected the Democrats, and the progressive candidate and policies of Harris/Biden. Talking about Climate change spending and initiatives. How did that work out for California with the fires. Biden lives in a completely unrealistic world. And the media says Trumps speech was dark. I'll take a "Golden Age" over what we went through the past 4 years anytime!

Of course they don't. Sometimes they even try to pretend like they were't for something or didn't actually do it. Remember "Defund the Police?" The Americans definitely saw the writing on the wall and knew who was responsible. They definitely understood the nature of the court cases brought against Trump and anyone around him. They definitely saw the efforts made to keep RFKJr off primary ballots. People got it, and that's why Trump won and Harris lost, and why Biden's approval ratings were in the dump nearly his entire term in office. As for the climate change thing, I think people understand as well that wildfires are a naturally occurring event. In other words, the reason the fires happened is because we did not actively manage the forests. NOT because climate change was responsible. I think people are seeing California's entire mismanagement as well, and the interesting thing will be whether these wildfires are the catalyst that will shift California to more commonsense, conservative values. It takes a lot to shift a state, but this could be the one thing that opens people up to EVERYTHING that's wrong with the state and puts the blame where it belongs. On leftist, progressive agendas of which Democrats sit at the forefront of.
